OLB/ILB (depends on where we put Wilson
SS

CB
OT |
I'd say
OLB/ILB (depends on where we put Wilson
OT* (if Bushy leaves)
DE/NT (depends where we put Hicks)
DL depth
SS
CB
OT* (if Bushy stays) |
I'd go
OLB/ILB (Dependent on Wilson)
S
CB
NT (If Bunkley isn't a fit)
OT
I don't see OT as a need, at all. Brown showed he could be a serviceable starter and we've shown that in pass protection we can plug anyone in and get at least average production. We NEED to fix this defense, first and foremost. _________________

What's more likely?
Sign Anthony Spencer and draft a DB in round 1?
Sign Cary Williams and draft a OLB in round 1? _________________

More likely? Option 1. I'd personally have no issue with them signing Spencer and then drafting Dion Jordan though. You can never have too many pass rushers. _________________

Agreed. I mean I don't mind them taking a DB in round 1 if Wilson and Galette are impressing and we bring in a FA vet. But if Wilson and Galette are impressing and we bring in a FA vet, I still wouldn't mind a 1st round DL. _________________

The defense was so bad last year we could literally draft any position on that side of the ball in the first round. _________________

Yep. I think we should just take the defensive BPA. _________________

I agree. As long as it's a good fit. _________________

Yeah. When I say BPA, I mean our BPA in the new scheme, not just the highest rated guy. _________________

OLB/ILB (depends on where we put Wilson
SS
DL depth
CB
OT |
I think I'd have to agree, actually. I'd probably put Safety in general instead of SS, though. Jenkins is trash. |
I think fixing either S spot helps us.
Get a new SS and IAQ can move to FS. Get a new FS and IAQ can move to SS. We have 2 glaring holes and only 1 guy who deserves a shot to fill them, but he could probably fill either one of them. |
I see it this way:
OLB/ILB (Dependent on Wilson)
S
OT
CB
NT (If Bunkley isn't a fit)
I'd suggest moving Jenkins back to corner, IAQ = FS, White = SS... of course this suggestion is if we don't get a game changing DB thru draft/FA. _________________

Jenkins' slim chance at a successful NFL career is only at the FS position. _________________

| I think that Hawthorne could start for us, but not at ILB. He complained about SLB in the 4-3 as being to physical for his body type and that he signed to play WLB. I dont think he can play ILB in a 3-4. However I do think that he could play Willbacker. (yall call it SOLB, it is not jackbacker the heavy blitzer). I think we could improve, but considering we have negative money and he is only due 1 million. He will suffice for a season. |

Well looks like Vilma is in the plans. From another Saints forum, sounds like Sean Payton had Vilma in the WILB spot with Lofton in the SILB spot. No mention of Hawthorne(trading chip?). _________________

Apparently they may have plans for Hawthorne at SOLB. I think that he may be too undersized for the position...but honestly, it isn't a horrible fit. He could anchor decently against the run and is probably better than anyone else (other than Vilma) at covering TEs. Since Hawthorne's cap numbers suggest he will be here next season...I could see him being the current plan at SOLB.
I think that Vilma at WILB and Lofton at SILB is a mistake however. I think that they should be flipped. I also believe that Vilma should primarily be a nickel SILB, with Martez Wilson playing as base 3-4 SILB. |
