He's overrated, Crennel is better but whatever, wasn't much left. _________________

If his ability as a coach was as deft as his hand at self-promotion he'd be a force to be reckoned with. As it is his name only strikes fear in buffet owners in NFL cities around the league. _________________

I remember a lot of talk about needing good CBs to play Rob's defense. Saints have no CBs. Seems like a bad fit.
But, I guess "nowhere to go but up" also applies. I believe Saints will be in the playoffs next season. |

Our CB's are actually really good. IN MAN TO MAN. Last year we played zone, our secondary is terrible in zone. But we have corners who play at their highest in man-to-man. (See 09') They're not the best corners, but they play at their highest in man-to-man, which when you have Breesus manning your offense, all you need is mediocre on defense. I'm getting ready to "party with the Lombardi" again, as its only a matter of time... _________________

| I am somewhat surpised that the Saints hired Rob instead of Romeo, I thought Romeo would be the perfect fit for the Saints defense.. |

Romeo didn't want to coach. The Chiefs are paying him $3M to sit on his butt. _________________

Thought it was $7M ?
Regardless, after what happened this year, I would understand why he'd like to take a year off. _________________ Kickers are people too |

He's an average defensive coordinator and way overrated. Rex is a much better game-planner and defensive mind. _________________

Sure he is but he is a terrible head coach, he should have been fired this year |

| I like Rob Ryan but I was far more worried about them possibly getting Crennel instead. Either way, this should start putting their defense in the right direction because the ones they have been fielding for most recent years has been laughable. |

Crennel's system is out of date though. And, I agree, our last at least decent defense was 09'. _________________

And Ryan's system has never been in date. _________________

Yes, because he got the Cowboys from 31st to 14th in his 1st season, then in a season FILLED with injuries they were 19th. All we need is a top 20 defense and we'll have a 2nd SB. _________________
