Played with an abdominal sports hernia from week 10 on. The fact that he almost broke the rushing record anyway is pretty amazing. He's a special player.
If this isn't a topic worthy of its own thread in NFL News, just lock it up / move it. Figured it was news-worthy though. _________________

Viking fans were well aware of this. I'm surprised this wasn't common knowledge to everyone. _________________

I hadn't heard about it till now. I'm sure there were a couple other people as lost as I was. With all the media coverage, and the fact that they still didn't point this out till now, I think that would mean most people are still in the dark about this. Until now. _________________

Wow...
If injuries don't slow his career down, he'll probably go down as the GOAT. _________________

I remember him saying toward the end of the season he was feeling amazing and seriously thought he could play like a 21 game regular season. _________________

| I remember lots of reports about "soreness" and pain throughout that timespan but I don't recall them actually coming out and saying it was a hernia. For some reason I remember them saying he had a minor tear. |

This man isn't human.
He can't be.
If he doesn't win a SB, or even get to one, it'll be one of the biggest letdowns in NFL history. _________________

Yeah, that's pretty common. It's almost every season that you hear that some player actually had a sports hernia for half the season.
It's impressive that Peterson played so well, but it's a fairly common injury to play through. |

Peterson said he suffered the sports hernia injury some time during the Vikings' 34-24 home victory over the Lions on Nov. 11.
Peterson: "I just remember getting twisted up pretty bad in an awkward position. That next day I felt very uncomfortable in my groin and abdominal area. I thought to myself, 'I'll just wait until I recover,' but I never did. I wasn't able to lift weights because of the strain that it would put on those muscles on an upper- or lower-body workout. It was just about doing what I had to do to push myself every week. My body was sore from the game and the sports hernia every Monday, so I did what I had to do to recover and get my body right."
"I just played through the pain, it was a 10 on a scale of 10. I ran on adrenaline."
