I'm not really. However, I feel he's a better fit at the 3 in the rotation with Cox. (The front 7 will likely rotate often so he would be a pseudo-starter anyway). Plus with all the other guys in the mix at the 5, you need some guys for the other spots.

Rather than start a new "defense" thread, it might be time to revive this one. Considering, due to Kelly's comments, there was some concern that we may be going to a more "classic 3-4" look as opposed to the "4-3 under".

This draft has somewhat reassured me that the Eagles will most likely use some form of the "4-3 under" look. Now that it is over, it might be interesting to talk about who fits where and maybe why in the front seven.

For reference, the "4-3 under" looks something like this:

Code:

---------------TE--OT--OG--OC--OG--OT---------------
-----------------5T------1T------3T-----Pred--------
----------SAM-------MIKE-----------WILL-------------

I think it's pretty likely that Soap starts off at the 1. With Dixon and Logan battling for the backup (and possibly future starter) spot.

Cox should be the 3 with Thornton and Cameron fighting for the spot in the rotation (I think it's safe to say Thornton wins).

The Eagles have a ton of guys to look at at the 5. Geathers, Curry, Kruger, King, Square, Remington. Of course it's possible that one of those guys also fits in at the 1 (Remington?) or the 3 (King, Square?) and joind the rotation there.

Cole and Graham are (IMO) the obvious choices to get the first look at Predator. But Davis could like barwin there for whatever reason (although who projects to SAM if that is the case, I have no idea...). Brown and Hunt should also get looks here, but I find it highly unlikely either fits in other than as a reserve.

After Barwin, I have no idea who on the roster fits at SAM. Perhaps one of you knows some of the other guys better and has some ideas. McCoy has the size, but I don't know much about him. Is he an inside or outside backer?

I think WILB should be an ideal spot for Kendricks. Chaney and Matthews (IMO) project better there than any spot they have played previously.

Ryans will almost certainly play MIKE.

Where do some of the other guys project best?

Acho
Phillips
McCoy
?

bump......

I think Barwin and Acho will be the SAMS.. Acho could surprise us and turn out to be really solid.

and Cole and Graham will be the Predators. I mean if Clemons could play it for Seattle, i dont see why Cole cant as Clemons is weal compared to Cole, Coles a underrated athlete.

Graham is hard to project right now for the Predator, but he as playing great football at the end of the year and showed he had his explosiveness back, hes the closest tweener we got but might not have the overall tools, hes was quite thick and stout looking last time we saw him, he might not have enough wiggle to do it regularly but he could probably give you quite a effort off the bench getting after the passer.

From Domowitch:

Bennie Logan:

Quote:
Hes not real tall, but hes a good athlete who can move around. Hes pretty versatile. He can play the 1-technique. I wouldnt count him out as a 3 either. And he can play the 5-technique (end in a 3-4). He can be a productive rotational player for them right away.

Joe Kruger

Quote:
Hes got good length. Has long arms. Im not seeing him as an outside linebacker, so hes going to have to put some weight on to be a 5 (technique). But hes got the frame to do that. Needs to get a lot stronger too.

David King

Quote:
But he can be a rotational player in this league. Hes got good natural strength and long arms. Hes an athletic five-technique (d-end) with 4.6 speed. Even with the speed, he wont give you much as a pass-rusher. But hes strong at the point of attack against the run.

The brightest star in the day time sky would be the sun.

I like what the front 7 is doing by getting bigger and stronger, I am worried about our secondary, but isn't Billy Davis especially good with that area of the D? I could totally be wrong but I thought that was right. I think the D is about to get a whole lot faster too having to keep up with Chip's offense.

Whaaaaaaat how can you go without football for half a year and not watch the Eagles when they're playing, even if it's in August?

Usually I'm busy during preseason.
