The Cleveland Plain Dealer hears that the new Browns regime does not consider Colt McCoy a "viable starting option."
McCoy's pop-gun arm is an awful fit for new coach Rob Chudzinski's aggressive, vertical passing scheme.
The Browns are expected to bring in competition for Brandon Weeden, so look for McCoy to be dangled as trade bait.
Thanks to escalators in his contract, he's owed $2.325 million in 2013.

I hope rather than sign a FA we bring in someone like Tyler Bray in the 3rd round if he is available. _________________

| Nice to see the new regime has a firm grasp of the obvious. |

This. A lot of this. Especially the Matt Moore part. Dude might beat Weeden in an open competition. _________________

Not in the draft, no. If they are serious about it being a competition, it won't be a rookie. |

It is based only on the 2012 season...
The metric is based heavily on scouting each player and grading the key criteria for each position. Quarterbacks are judged on accuracy (30 points), arm strength (20), decision making (30), mechanics (15) and mobility (5), for a possible best score of 100.
Potential is not taken into consideration. Nor are career accomplishments. |
This article demonstrates how poor conclusions can be drawn from a small sample size of statistics. _________________

Even with the small sample size it's ridiculous to think that anything McCoy did in 2012 would rate him higher than Weeden. McCoy had a 19% sack rate, ran for a lower per carry average, worse completion percentage, pathetic YPA, and literally threw over 29% of his pass attempts into the dirt on purpose. _________________

Are you guys sure that Bleacher Report didn't screw up and put their ages down in their rankings?

Something certainly seems amiss.
A cold streak just ran down my back, like Colt McCoy just entered the room. |
