http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/16/irsay-says-another-colts-deal-is-coming/

Quote:
The Colts have been one of the few teams to splurge in free agency, signing plenty of players and spending plenty of cap space.

Owner Jim Irsay says another deal is coming.

He says the team is “working on a deal, one we’ve been working on for five days,” and that “we’re very, very close to making it work.”

Hmmmm?? Would Spencer be a good fit in Indy??

He said it was a WR on a post.

Dez swings, and he misses.

Nice for them though.

Just hope that they didn't have to overpay for him. Still think they will look at S in the 3rd

It's kinda hard for us to sign anyone when we don't have any money due to poor cap management. Hooray for bad contracts!!

So you are against extending under performing veterans but are okay with signing them? Haha

Interestingly enough, I also felt Plan9 stumbled on that one. Jerry fails because he signs players over 30 to bad contracts - and yet we don't sign a player over 30 to a contract and someone that gives him the ability to use that as a soapbox? Very strange. Especially because I don't agree with his comment at all - but I don't care because as much as I am sure he would love to rehash the same comments he has said in another threads and derail this one, I would prefer to keep to discussing other teams action.

As a result, I think this is a decent move by the Texans. The Veteran leadership for that Defense will be spectacular.

Every move you make (or dont make), there is an angle to whine.

The comment was more germane to the way he handles the cap, not in relation to Ed Reed specifically. If we had money, we would've had a chance to sign a veteran OT like an Eric Winston for a reasonable amount of money to help solidify our incredibly pathetic o-line. It was not a statement to suggest that I wanted any part of a washed up Ed Reed.

Um, no. But not having money prevents us from signing someone worthy of a reasonable contract. Eric Winston comes to mind. We know that he'll most likely sign with the Dolphins because he's a Florida native, but we took ourselves out of the running before we could even enter it because of how poorly we handled the salary cap situation.

In reality we could have the money to sign any of these players, we just used it on Spencer.

The money will once again be available in the next few weeks, assuming the deals with Spencer/Romo/Free get done.

Ah I thought you were advocating us signing Ed Reed since the initial quote was regarding him going to the Texans.

That was my fault. I should've been clearer.
