If that was the case he would have been signed by now. I think that Payton would like to bring the other guy in. The longer this draws out the more I think it might be Keith Butler. You would not want to announce that you are bringing him in for an interview until the very last second, because if you announce it too early you will get competition. Well...either that or Ryan will be named DC very soon.
I think that Ryan will be a nice consolation prize. Great scheme fit. .and players respect him. |
I just think it's a matter of time... Ryan will be the guy. Larry Holder of the Times Pic has already stated that the overall reaction across New Orleans of the idea of the hiring of Ryan has not gone over to well, he believes that the other interviews is simply to showcase that the team has done their due diligence here but in the end, Ryan will prove to be the best man for the job. _________________

I wouldn't put too much into him saying it's his job already.
1) He's a Ryan. He likes to use that hole below his nose.
2) The Rams job was his too. |
I guess this is where they got it from...

It sounds to me that Payton might be doing a couple friends a solid by giving them interviews to get their name out there but in the end I think its always been Ryan. _________________

At least it will be nice to see the swagger they had back in 2009.
BTW...I have noticed something. We may have another SB run this season...follow me here.
After a mediocre 2008 season, the Saints hired Gregg Williams...a disciple of the Bud Ryan school of Defensive Coaching who installed a new highly aggressive scheme. We played the AFC East in 2009, the last 7 seasons a team who played the AFC East made the Super Bowl.
Fast track to 2013.
After a mediocre 2012 season, the Saints hired Rob Ryan...a disciple of the Bud Ryan school of Defensive Coaching who will install a new highly aggressive scheme. We will play the AFC East in 2013, the last 7 seasons a team who played the AFC East made the Super Bowl.

| I didn't want us to hire Rob Ryan but now that we did I'll be supportive of it. In fact I now want to get myself a Rob Ryan wig. |

On my lunch break at work. At least we know who it is! I'm actually warming up to Ryan! _________________

I hope your guys corners are good in coverage, because ryans Blitzes tend to leave them hanging out there by themselves quite a bit _________________ 2013 Joe Blackburn HOF Award Recipient

Better in man coverage than in zone like last season. _________________

What navy said. Theyre not the best corners by far, but they are alot better in man. It's what they're used to, it's what they learned with G-dub. All they played was man. Look for this to be the 09' Defense 3-4 Style. _________________

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. I'll support him and give him a chance, but I don't see a good fit with us. It's going to be the same 'shoulder tackle! FTW!!' type garbage. It's also going to be alot of GW (3rd and long? Blitz. 2nd and 4? Blitz. 4th and inches? Blitz.)
I'm hoping for the best. _________________

There is one upside to it though.
Our players loved playing for GW.
Players who had Ryan loved playing for him.
Our players hated playing for Spags.
When you're players love the coach, its a good thing. And, all we really need for a SB is a 2009-esque defense, which RR can bring to us. _________________
