Canty would be a large upgrade over Dorsey and Jackson. Sign him and draft another DE. We still have Bailey coming back to play inside on pass rushing downs and Tyson didn't do anything there anyway.

I guess we are watching 2 different Tyson's then...

Look, is T-Jax overpaid? Obviously. But to say he is a bad player or replaceable is actually laughable. T-Jax had a great year this past year when A LOT of guys checked out mentally early on. If Mike Vick will restructure a contract, then I am sure Tyson will be willing to as well.

He might be willing but Dorsey and Reid may not. We will see. If he restructures then they must think he is doing a good job and he still has upside as a starter. If he is released then not so much. Time will tell, but Canty would be a great fit for us at a position of need and uncertainty.

Yeah and I am not sure I see alot of incentive on Jackson's side to do a deal like Vick. Vick left alot of money on the table but probably figured he might not get much more money than what he agreed to with the Eagles if he hit the free agent market. I would think Jackson would prefer hitting the market as a free agent than "re-sign" for a 1 year deal at significantly less than he is slated to make in his renegotiated rookie deal. I imagine the intent of the renegotiation was to either lead to an extension or being released. The extension would likely push alot of money into future years.

I'm not saying Tyson is going to restructure to a 1 year deal? I am just saying if Vick is willing to leave some money on the table then other players like Tyson will too. How much money is a different question entirely.I would sign Tyson to a 3-4 year deal with 4.5ish million a year if he were fine with that.

Him playing next to Berry at FS would be so much fun to watch.

Agree and what a mentor to have for Berry. Woodson in the short term at least would be outstanding.

We should absolutely look into this. I know he said he wants to go to a contender, but you could argue that his presence goes a long way to filling a major hole that has been keeping us from contending. If he and Lewis are keeping each other fresh and less injured, that's good for everybody. Might also extend Woodson's career a year or so.

That is the selling point I think. We have the Green Bay connection, so I would assume that Woodson knows that if Dorsey outlines a plan for success next season and beyond, there is no reason to think he is playing him. That's the only way we sign him for a price that won't force us to compromise on bringing in/retaining other assets.

I would love to have him, but we shouldn't overpay if it means we can't do other things.

Woodson won't sign with the Chiefs.

Future HOFers at the end of their careers usually go to a contender, unfortunately we've got a ways to go to get to that status.

I could also see BAL as possibility if Reed leaves

Any interest in any of the dumped Jets?

Calvin Pace, Eric Smith, & Jason Smith
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/19/jets-start-dumping-salaries/

Bart Scott
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/02/19/jets-cut-bart-scott-too/

I'd actually have interest in having any of them on the roster. Obviously it would depend on contract, so I'm not sure if any of them would really be worth it. But depth and competition are always good.

Scott and Pace probably interest me the most. Really haven't paid attention to either of them the last couple years, but we could use OLB depth and definitely need some ILB help

I wonder what Pace and Scott have left in their tanks. I wouldn't mind Pace as depth at OLB and Scott could be a stop-gap ILB while someone like maybe Arthur Brown or another ILB draft pick is groomed. Idk much else about Eric Smith or Jason Smith.

No thanks. Neither ones productivity matches what they will want in compensation

Dont know if this was posted yet but the eagles released Cullen Jenkins today....

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000145114/article/cullen-jenkins-owed-55m-cut-by-philadelphia-eagles

He has connections with Green Bay (Dorsey) and Philly (Reid). I think he is best suited for the 3-4 DE. He can rush the passer better than anyone we have had in our 3-4 DLine but does struggle a little against the run. I still think he would be a great addition.

^^ How old is Jenkins? I know zero about him to form any opinion as to whether KC should sign him or not. Can anyone tell me a little more about him and/or how he played in Philly under Reid?

He had a beast of a season with GB (as a 3-4 end) before signing a big contract with Philly.

He's getting up there but would be a good rotational guy and a good guy for our Poe-Powe to learn from.
