Sorry I'm a little late to the McLendon discussion, but his best fit may be as a DE. Pittsburgh is somewhat struggling (in real life) as to where to play McLendon, and if I'm not mistaken, there's a decent contingent in the Steeler forum that think he should play DE. Based on his build, his skillset, and ability to penetrate, I personally would play him at DE.

McClendon at DE seems much more of a sensible to me if we believe he can play there.

We already have a huge DL so his size or lack there of wont matter.
The low cost of bringing him in could be offset by releasing/trading Rucker
He is younger than Rucker
He would still add that little bit of 34 experience.
and would MUCH easier allow us to project out DL

McClendon/Winn
Rubin/Kitchen
Taylor/Hughes For example

If we are going to start looking at DE, a name I want to throw out there is Arthur Jones

original round tender? If so, he was drafted in the 5th so no compensation in FFMD...

If we dont get Mclendon (contract already offered I believe) Id be perfectly happy making an offer for Jones if its not too late. I dont see the reason to bring both in...

I'm interested in this and have been trying to follow it but only really care about what you guys are doing with the browns and not what the rest of league is doing. Is there any place I could see what moves the Browns are making in FFMD or could someone make a thread to just keep us lurkers up to date on what the Browns moves are?

Just to put some issues on McLendon to rest, or whatever.

He weighed in at 306 lbs at his pro day.

This is from rotoworld
Quote:
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette considers it "preposterous" that Steelers NT Steve McLendon is listed at 6-foot-4, 280.
McLendon weighed 280 as a junior at Troy, and is 325 pounds today. The latter weight makes a lot more sense for a 3-4 nose. A former undrafted free agent, McLendon has practiced and played well enough that he's the favorite to open the season as Pittsburgh's starting nose tackle. Casey Hampton will rotate in on obvious running downs. Alameda Ta'amu will likely be a weekly scratch. Sun, Aug 19, 2012 12:34:00 PM

He's his numbers for the last 2 years, similar to what I did with Butler.

Pass rush snaps- 127
Sacks- 4
Hits- 2
Hurries- 5

Pass rush productivity- 7.3 (ranks 11th in 2012 among all DT/NT's)

Run snaps- 136
Run Stops- 13
Run stop %- 9.6 (ranks 7th in 2012 among all DT/NT's)

Definitely real life ones. The overall cost as well as yearly breakdown and amount guaranteed would be perfect.

Oooo, Panthers just released Chris Gamble! Thoughts?

Hes a little older than our current FA targets at CB, if we can get him cheap I'd say do it

Would he be a possibility at FS?

That could be a possibility, didn't think of that

I know they had to cut him because of the cap, but it's pretty funny that he was originally on their untradable list.
