OnWisconsin Dream Mock Draft... I am not TT
RESIGNED PACKERS:
Evan Dietrich Smith (C)
Sam Shields
Tom Crabtree
RESTRUCTURES:
Charles Woodson
J-Mike
Ryan Pickett
FREE AGENTS:
Come on Man TT doesn't do this so neither will I
TRADES:
Tag and Trade Jennings for Miami's 2nd Rounder
THE DRAFT:
Rewarded a 4th Round Comp for Flynn
Round 1: Jonathan Cooper OG/C North Carolina
Big Nasty Center that gives us a nasty streak.
TRADE ALERT: Packers & Jags make a deal
Packers Get Jags 2nd
Jags Get Packers 2nd, 3rd & 7th
Round 2A (JAGS): Sharrif Floyd DE/DT Florida
Pushes the pocket from the DE and can wreck plays in the backfield
Round 2B (Miami): Datone Jones DE UCLA
This mock has a theme... TRENCHES... TT picks players that can tear up the front seven on both sides of the ball and Jones is just that.
Round 4: Trevardo Williams OLB UCONN
Very light right now... needs to add weight and could go higher but falls in my dream.
Round 4 Comp: Bacarri Rambo S Georgia
Ballhawk... falls due to off field issues that TT figures is a good value here.
Round 5: Tavarres King WR Georgia
Never reached his potential in college but nice value here.
Round 6: Kenjon Barner RB Oregon
Speed to take it the distance a nice pairing with Harris...
UDFA
Ace Sanders WR/PR/KR South Carolina
Big play guy when on the field. Very creative runner. |

The real issue I have with taking both Jones and Floyd is the numbers game.
So you've got Raji, Pickett, Wilson, Worthy, Daniels, Floyd, and Jones on the roster (as well as some other guys). They're not going to keep 7 DL, and all of those guys are either contributors or recent draft picks. Who are you parting ways with?
I'd be really happy with Floyd or Jones in round 2 (though I think both guys go in the first come April) but I think if you take one you go in a different direction with the next pick. |

I don't disagree with Cabbage at all about Datone Jones. However, IIRC, another poster suggested that Jones would be playing a hybrid role lining up at various spots on the field depending on the package. While this is intriguing, I don't think you make a pick based on what the coaching staff MIGHT do. You cannot predict that, especially when Dom has drawn up some rather questionable packages the past couple of years.
Though, to be brutally honest with you, I think Cory Grissom would give us a similar player in the 5th or 6th round rather than using a 1st or 2nd on someone like Shariff Floyd. It's not that I don't like Floyd, it's that we can get a similar player later in the draft once our immediate needs have been filled properly. JMHO.
I love the comment about FA. I'm so sick of people making a big deal about wanting to sign Chris Ivory or Stephen Jackson. I like Chris Ivory and would love it if he were a Packer. As for Jackson, people keep clamoring about how TT apparently tried to trade for him or something of that sort a couple years ago. It's the same argument that was used to go after Randy Moss. Well guess what, it didn't happen then and it won't happen now; move on...
Other than that, I like the logic behind the Rambo pick, I just don't see it happening and the Barner pick should be scratched too. I don't think RB is a need now that Harris proved he can be a reliable back. _________________

Yeah I'm with the above on Jones too.
No hands TE to replace the Fin?
Harris has speed, why do we need Barner? I want a man that can "tear up the trench" and push the pile. _________________

I really like this draft, we get a lot of quality additions to the trenches, but I'm not sure Jones will be there and also I'm not sure if Ted will double dip on the DL after doing that last yr. _________________
