I'm sorry, but no athlete, in my mind, is worth more than $5million a season. So what, they can run, throw, jump etc better than the average person. But at the end of the day they are no better than you or me. I know this is the reality of it, but really? The numbers will continue to rise over the years and there is nothing that can be done except pay them. Aaron is a valuable player to the Packers, no doubt and if he gets $20 + million a year than so be it, but to me it is sickening to hear these guys talk after their days of making millions and nothing was invested and now they have nothing to get through everyday life, really? Or how they need the league to pay all of their benefits when they can contribute some of their own money towards it. Whatever, just a rant. Aaron is a good guy, can't see him ever be super greedy, just hate seeing a team load up 1 guy with all of the money and forget the rest.

If it makes you feel any better - Adam Sandler is worth 300 million and makes 20 million per movie and he has zero talent.

Somebody doesn't understand sports economics.

These players fuel a multi billion dollar industry, and if it weren't for the salary cap, they'd make even more. The free market is a great thing cuz we decide what we wanna pay for.

Fans foot the bill for this stuff... No one is to blame but us.

It is what it is.

Going rate for a top tier SB calibur QB is around $20M... AR wont be asking for any more than the going rate.

It's going to suck, you can still have some other talent of this team but it is not going to be as much as others that do not have a bank-breaking player, better to spread the money around so to say. One player doesn't win games in the NFL. Now I am not saying you let him go, but maybe they sit down and talk with him and say he we will try to get TV ad deals or something but if you take five mil less a year thats a guy like Jenkins or Lang, not all-star players, but good role-players not are not talked about as much that become pieces of why a team wins or loses.

If I'm a GM I don't extend ANYONE until they are in the final year of their contract.
It just sets a good precedent.
If players like Rodgers, Raji, and Matthews don't get extended before then it would take A LOT of cajones for anyone else to come asking for an extension before then.

ESPN hyping up Flacco as the number 1 qb in the NFL. He was on Letterman talking about how he is going to go to get paid. If he gets paid 20 mil what does Rodgers get, thirty?

Saw that, Merrill Hoge is an idiot, don't see how Roethilsberger makes it in over Brees or Manning. Flacco is a good quarterback but I don't think he is the top quarterback at this time.

Flacco is entering free agency at the perfect time, coming off a superbowl he has a ton of leverage on his side. If he gets 20 mil a year I think Rodgers will get more than that, maybe 25 mil but I don't see him getting 30. Do we think he might give us a discount?

The real question: 10 years or just 8?

6 year extension has him as our QB through the age of 36.

I'd guess a 6 year extension for $125million.

Would give him an average of about $18million over the next 8.

If they did it, this is exactly what I'd want and I do think it's realistic.
