He deserves it.
That leaves Chuck Howley as the only guy in my top ten not to be in the Hall of Fame. _________________

Glad Allen got in. One of the most dominant linemen ever who dominated as left tackle and guard. |

I would've been shocked if he didn't get in. He's the greatest OG in the history of the NFL. _________________

His snubs are due to his character, not his play. He wasn't well liked as a person, and I'm sure that's influencing the voters. _________________

He suffered from some kind of mental bipolar disorder in his playing days. _________________

Great to see Allen get in. He was one of the best OL (along with Ogden) of his era and arguably the best OG in history.
I am also glad to see Cris Carter finally get in. His reaction to learning that he got in was priceless. _________________

Allen is well deserving. I never thought I would see a G as dominating as John Hannah, but I think Allen is the best G of all time. You have to love his attitude "i wanted the other guy to tap out." I think it was Michael Strahan who said one of the happiest days of his career was when Allen was moved to G. High praise indeed. _________________ Northland

Northland Allen was the most physically dominating. It would be hard to argue Bruce Matthews isn't the best of all time. It's an either or situation. Matthews made the pro bowl at center as well as both guard spots. Allen made the pro bowl as a lt. Can't go wrong either way.
Northland I remember Hannah very well. He was a monster in his dayand I thought he was the best ever until Matthews. Just to show you how much things have changed in the nfl....Hannah played at about 265lbs. Imagine Anthony Spencer at guard or vice versa imagine Hannah at olb today. _________________ A circle. Only guy that I prolly wouldn't have put in as 1st time was Sapp. IMO, 1st timers have to truly be transcendent players, players that every team tries to find. LA and Ogden were/are that. Teams are always looking for next Allen and/or Ogden. Not saying Sapp wasn't deserving but I think some of the other guys who've been waiting for a bit should have gotten in this time and Sapp next year. But, still a great, well deserving class. |
