Cris Carter is one of 15 modern-era finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The committee, which includes Mark Craig of the Star Tribune, meets Saturday in New Orleans. The inductees will be announced around 5 p.m. Saturday.

The committee can induct no more than five modern-era players from a pretty impressive list. There are also two senior candidates, and the 46-member selection committee votes thumbs up or thumbs down on those two.

I personally think it's going to be difficult for him to get in this year. He should have been in last year.

If I had 5 votes, it would go to these:

Warren Sapp
Jonathan Ogden
Cris Carter
Larry Allen
Kevin Greene (why this guy doesn't get more love, I don't know...he's still #3 in sacks all-time and one of the top defensive players in recovering fumbles all-time)

Just outside, looking in:

Charles Haley
Will Shields
Michael Strahan
Bill Parcells
Andre Reed

Still a ways away, if ever:

Aeneas Williams
Tim Brown (to me, he's not a HOFer at all, and never has been)
Jerome Bettis
Art Modell (would be a slam dunk if not for his treatment of Cleveland)
Ed Debartolo, Jr

If the Vikings would have won the Superbowl in 98, Carter would have been in a long time ago.

With that said, I think he makes it this year.

The five person limit is stupid.

My hopeful predictions;

Larry Allen - A dominating force along the Cowboys line, and the biggest reason, both figuratively and literally, for Emmitt Smith's record setting career.

Cris Carter - No one had, or has had better hands. Jerry Rice got all the love, and rightfully so, but Carter was always on his heels. Watching Carter dominate with quarterbacks like Sean Salisbury, Rich Gannon, Jeff George, Jim McMahon, and Brad Johnson, it really makes you wonder what he would have done if he had one of the premier quarterbacks of the 90's.

Kevin Greene - A dominating pass rusher, and I will be shocked of the #3 sack leader doesn't get in this year.

Jonathan Ogden - It will be interesting to see if the voters put in two offensive linemen in the class, but it will be a crime if they don't. Ogden dominated from the moment he joined the Ravens to the moment he retired. Arguably the best left tackle to play in the NFL.

Michael Strahan - One of the best defensive ends in the last tean years. Strahan set the NFL single season sack record, and is 5th on the all time list. Strahan was a good player, but consistency was the name of his game. I never really thought of him as dominating, he just was disruptive for a very long time. I think his constant visibility on FOX and in SUbway commercials has kept him relevant, which will get him voted in.

Id guess that one of Allen or Ogden will get in this year. Strahan is a lock. Carter should get in.

If Carter gets in, do we want to have someone make a Carter avy to honor him?

Good for him.

wow, what a great year for us.

We made the playoffs when practically everyone counted us out.

Adrian Peterson might/should win NFL MVP

Kyle Rudolph won Probowl MVP

Cris Carter gets elected into the NFL HOF

woohoo!

Even though I'm officially retired from the sig making biz, I'm going to try and make something to honor our newest inductee into the Hall of Fame. Smile
