It means he wants them to move Houston unside to DT so he can play between the guard and tackle on the outside shade of the guard. I don't know why people always bring that up when Bryant does a good job there and there are a ton of DT's coming out this year. Especially when Houston had his best year as a pro at DE. Just makes no sense.

he has been playing DE his whole career.
I think he would be better off as a DE in a 3-4, tho.

Duh. I know that. I meant he had his best season so why move him. And he is too much of a pass rush type big DE for the 34. He wants to get to the passer instead of occupying blockers.

| With a good pass rusher on the other side and someone occupying blocks in the middle I could easily see Houston getting double digit sacks next year. |

I would leave him at LDE.
But if Bryant leaves and Shaggy stays cheap we could push him inside with Shaggy at LDE.
Either way we need a true pass rusher at RDE and a NT.

I know its just Profootballfocus.com's stats but....
Houston:
877 snaps
14 QB hits, #4 for DEs
35 QB hurries, #15
#27 pass rushing 4-3 DE
#2 run 4-3DE in run defense
#3 in stops with 40: "solo tackles which constitute a failure by offensive player"... I think that's like shedding the block or shooting a gap and making a play versus running a guy down from behind
btw Shaughnessy's stats for comparison:
688 snaps
5 QB hits, #40 for DEs
5 QB hurries, #61 for DEs
#59 pass rushing 4-3 DE
#11 run 4-3DE in run defense
#30 in stops with 23: "solo tackles which constitute a failure by offensive player" |

It's normally called UT here it is the outside shade of the guard. And the reason I say that is that it looks like it'd be a natural fit for his build. We should put players in their best position to succeed. We'd get good rotation of the DL and there's nothing wrong with getting a pass rush from the inside
