@ProFootballTalk: Steelers to hire Redskins Danny Smith as special teams coach http://t.co/q9N02wGc
Well now we get to see if this is a big loss or not. IMO, he's a great coach and he will be sorely missed. _________________

2nd that. ST has been one of the most inconsistent squads since he has been the coach. Without a few players like Zo the unit would have been terrible. _________________

He's had a good run _________________

Idc i want to read jim haslett get fired. Im very upset we arent exploring romeo or manginni or even potentally going back to the 4-3 .
We got dominatef in the hawks game and we stick around doing nothing. Shanny needs to realize we will eventually play hawks again or 49ers or gb and offense wony alwayd win us games we need a D that is fast and can dominate.
I really would of gome 4-3 and hite monte kiffin who is a 4-3 cover 2 D expert o well. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXTNES_L3s0

You just said in the other thread we won seven straight. That includes with our franchise QB much worse off than he was in the first nine games and with "castoffs."

Dominated? What happened was our star QB got hurt in the first quarter and our offense started to sputter; we would only have three more first downs until the game was in garbage time.
We went into halftime leading but left Griffin out there, a shadow of his self. Meanwhile, the defense forced a fumble on a goal line stand to maintain the lead, but the offense couldn't get any further than the 26 yard line. Again, the Seahawks moved into field goal range but the Redskins sacked Wilson back out, not allowing any points. 3 and out gave the ball back, but the defense responded with 3 and out of their own. Finally the defense wore down and allowed a touchdown ... and then Griffin collapsed. Even then, the defense only allowed a field goal even with the Seahawks starting on our own five yard line.
So, I'm not sure where you got "dominated" from. They played exceptionally well even in the face of the offense completely disappearing.

Why? What's our 4-3 look like? I'll give you the front four, that's easy:
RE - Orakpo
RT - Bowen
LT - Cofield
LE - Kerrigan
But our linebackers? Who are our outside guys? Fletcher's running the middle, but do you put Riley at strongside? Robinson? Alexander? Who?
And a Cover 2? With these guys? We saw what the Cover 2 looked like earlier this year ... it got shredded. We don't have Cover 2 corners.
Look, I get that you don't like the 3-4. That's fine. However, the personnel we have now are 3-4 guys. That's what they've been practicing and that's how they've been thinking for three years. We've finally made it over the hump ... and you want us to detonate that because ... why? |

Time will tell whether him leaving is a good thing or not. I don't think he's gotten enough credit from this forum over the years. _________________
