Sharrif Floyd. Dude is just an absolute monster. He is going to sky rocket in the combine ahead of Hankins and Richardson.
This is partially a homer pick, but also because I have seen every game this guy has played. Sacks mean nothing for DT. It is more about getting pressure and forcing them out of the pocket, distributing the QB and allowing the DE to get the stats. This dude is a beast and will prove to be on. 14 is not a stretch by any means on this kid. _________________

Dream scenario: Trade down in the first and acquire another second or future first. Then grab Elam at the bottom of the 1st. _________________

This is a dream scenario, but know way someone gives up a future 1st to move up in the 1st. I could see it being like when we drafted Beason, trading back into the early 20s and grabbing another pick. Then Elam would be awesome. Get another 2nd and go CB/OT OT/DT in 2nd.
Only thing about Elam I worry about is his 5'10" height. _________________

I would be fine with Elam at #14. A playmaking safety would do wonders for this defense. _________________

I'd go BPA in the 1st and best OT in the second if it isn't a major reach. The Panthers need a huge upgrade on the OL. |

I don't think we're taking an OT just to take one. Its either a future left tackle or bust. Probably not finding one of those in the 2nd. _________________

its kinda hard to find a future left tackle unless youre picking really high in the draft. plenty of offensive tackles are taken in the 2nd round. _________________

Joeckel, Fisher, and Johnson are the 3 that are definitely looked at as left tackles. Joeckel/Fisher will be gone, Johnson might be. If he's there at 14 I expect him to be the pick, but if he's not OT becomes a late round pick IMO. Xavier Nixon and David Quessenbery might get some consideration as potential LT's, if a team sees them as such they could rise to the 2nd round, but I'm not convinced that either are athletic enough, and both would be projects. If we can't get our OT in round 1, we're probably going DT, then WR/S in the 2nd. A pick combo of Shariff Floyd and Johnathan Cyprien seems realistic right now. _________________

The Panthers need more than a LT. Gross may be on the decline, but he can stay at LT for a year or two. The Panthers desperately need to find Jeff Otah's replacement. They could also use another quality OG. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they drafted two starting caliber OL with this draft. Not sexy, but necessary. |

What do you think of Sharrif Floyd or Kawann Short in round 1 and then someone like either Oday Aboushi or Kyle Long in round 2/3? If you throw into the mix a safety (Bacarri Rambo, Tony Jefferson, T.J. McDonald, Shawn Williams, Robert Lester, Duke Williams, Shamarko Thomas just to name a few options) for example at the other pick in the first three, IMO that could be pretty solid for you guys. _________________
