Report: Dolphins “highly unlikely” to re-sign Reggie Bush

Dolphins G.M. Jeff Ireland is looking for playmakers this offseason, but that may not include impending free agent running back Reggie Bush.
Citing sources, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports Bush is “highly unlikely” to be re-signed by the Dolphins. La Canfora suspects Bush could land with a “contender” on a short-term deal, but he’s apparently not expected back in Miami.
Behind Bush on the depth chart this past season, the Dolphins had pedestrian, fumble-prone veteran Daniel Thomas and fourth-round pick Lamar Miller. Although Miller was incredibly raw as a rookie in terms of both playbook knowledge and blitz pickup, he may be the future at the position for the Dolphins. Miller averaged nearly five yards a carry in 2012.
Bush can contribute on special teams as a return specialist and is effective in limited doses as a ball carrier. His strength is still the passing game, but the Dolphins didn’t use him there with a high frequency. Despite playing in all 16 games this past season, Bush finished with 35 receptions — the second lowest total of his career.
I am a big bush fan and think we need to add playmakers not get rid of them but with that said he isnt worth a big contract. Me personally I will reserve judgement till I see how much money he gets and how many years. I have confidence in lamar miller and none whatsoever in Thomas |

Hey man just looking out for you: you can't post a full article on here. You can quote a portion and then post a link. Most importantly, post the link.
I think Reggie is a goner. I want him back, he wants to be back, but his price demands will be north of this regime's purse. Miller, Thomas, Thigpen and Gray all could get bigger roles and succeed. I would even draft a guy like Latavius Murray late (I know I pimp him far to often.) _________________

Here you go man

| Quote: | The Dolphins think Lamar Miller can be better than Reggie Bush, whom they are not expected to re-sign this offseason.
Miller is bigger -- 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds -- and faster than Bush is, while he's also considerably cheaper. Miller seems to fit Joe Philbin's offense better, too, as a running back who hits the right hole at the right time. Bush was more of an innovator and creator out of the backfield. Miller averaged five yards-per-carry on 51 totes as a rookie.

| Quote: | Sources tell CBS' Jason La Canfora free agent Reggie Bush is "highly unlikely" to re-sign with the Dolphins.
La Canfora doesn't specify whether his sources are of the "league" or "team" variety, but this has been the general consensus among the Miami media. Plagued by durability issues throughout his career, Bush has appeared in 31 of a possible 32 games during his Dolphins tenure, but wasn't the same after injuring his knee in Week 3 last season. Nevertheless, La Canfora believes Bush's big-play ability and special-teams prowess will lead to a "nice" market. If Bush walks, the Dolphins have a readymade replacement in Lamar Miller. |
I don't mind Miller coming in as the starter. I'm actually excited about it but he spells him? Do we draft another speed back to compliment him or what? Or is Thigpen that guy? _________________

| Ok. So it looks as if we're trying to have money for good free agents at need positions. We can have the money by not signing Long and Bush, but it doesn't mean we'll get the guys we want. I hope we're not stuck with a bunch of unused money going in to next season after unsuccessful runs at Levitre, Wallace, Jennings, etc. |

While I think we will go after some free agents, I also see this as a sign that Philbin wants to rebuild this team his way. _________________

I remember seeing scouts pimping Gray on twitter after the draft as a guy who could ball. Maybe he is a guy that can develop into our second guy. _________________

I know we keep screaming we need speed but we have a couple of guys that have it. I think Philbin is making room for those guys. Lamar Miller and Rishard Matthews are two guys that will make a splash next season _________________

I'm sad about it but he's not exactly irreplaceable. I do find it odd tho because he's a leader on this team and an example to follow for kids in the organization. Is an easy to deal with player without any off the field issues, kinda like the model player for this Philbin regime.
Anyway, interested to see what we do with our RBs now. _________________

I completely agree. I'm not mad either way but it would be nice to see him back.
Deangelo Williams was said to be unlikely to resign two years ago, yet he did _________________

Gray was highly touted when he went to ND |

I love Reggie but I think this is definitely the right move. _________________ "well, they got X player I wanted but they clearly overpaid" is the battle cry of bitter and ignorant football fans

If true, this would be right in line with Jeff Ireland's strategy thus far. Get rid of the best players on the team, create new holes for an already Swiss cheese roster and have little to no plan on replacing them. The ONLY thing saving Irelands butt is Ryan Tannehill. No Tannehill, and I am certain Ireland would have been canned.
The ONLY play maker on this offense WAS Reggie Bush. He made would not be super expensive to resign and Bush made it clear he wanted to come back to Miami. Oh, and for what its worth, he is THE center piece of the locker-room. I've heard several reports suggest as much.
Miami won't ever win another playoff game with Jeff Ireland in the front office. Mark it in stone. _________________ "22 players are involved in every football play. To value precisely the activity of one of them, it is first necessary to account for the actions of the other 21" |
