Look at Maybin and Mingo's three-cone drill (HUGE indicator of success for pass rushers). Mingo's got him beat by .7 seconds. Maybin was stiff, Mingo is not.

Also, just realized this after the fact, but Mingo also had Maybin beat by .3 in the 40 as well.

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge metrics guy so I just don't really know... but is that small of a difference really that huge on the field? I mean we aren't even talking about a full second. You said he beat him by .7 of a second right?

That's a HUGE difference. Maybin ran a 7.52 3-cone at the Combine in 2009. In this year's combine, only one non-lineman ran a time that slow (Khaseem Greene).

I don't live and die by metrics either but that's a significant gap.

Wasn't sure if this was worth posting or not.

7.52 is awful but there are several solid pass rushers who did not bother to run this drill. We can't discount Maybin just because of 7.52. He simply can't play football.

if he picks him in the 1st, you can.

For very first time, I emulate Scott Bart's vocal statement. "Can't Wait!"

Correction, if he doesn't pan out you can.

qj it's wayyyyy too hasty to be grading Idzik already. He's made shrewd moves in FA considering how bad of a cap situation we were in, and although he wasn't put in the best position with the Revis deal, I think he made the best of a bad situation. Let's see how he drafts and what he does with some money to play with in 2014.

If he is able to trade down numerous times and stockpile picks, I give him an A+ for this offseason. That remains to be seen though.

No, I said it right. I only said it because I don't think he is going to pick him.

No, I said it right. I only said it because I don't think he is going to pick him.

So if we take him and he turns into the next CMIII (which I doubt), and he becomes the clear-cut best pass rusher from this class, then can you still say Idzik sucks?

As far as Mingo goes. I can see the potential, but that block shedding thing is a real concern for me. Fast & has the frame to bulk up. Idzik likes speed & Rex need a pass rusher, so I can understand the pick. I wouldn't hate the pick, but I wouldn't be 100% or to confident in the pick. We were almost 30th against the run last season, I want to improve that.

Moore in 2nd could be better idea. He can be a well around OLB for Ryan.
