I would say cut him to give us a little more space to get our FA targets signed. It saves us another $1.2m bringing our Rule of 51 cap space to $10,219,892

Cut Bobbie Williams.

Did we already cut Matt Birk?

Ill update the front pages with all our transactions. Finally got some free time.

Also agree that we should talk prospects and contracts for our own free agents

There was no official release of Birk. We talked about it on a number of ocassions but we held fire to see how FA plays out. If we need the room to get Ellerbe etc. back then we should release him or if he retires in RL before we are done with FFMD then we should release him. If we don't need the cap space then we could keep him to see how the draft unfolds for us.

Yeah, I think Birk is still an important asset to the team. He's at worse a very good backup center. Obviously he's not worth what he'd be getting paid, but at the same time, releasing him would just open up a hole.

So my point, was that he's cut-able, but we should wait to see if we can't get a few deals on Ellerbe/McKinnie. Because we just might luck out and not need to cut him while still being able to afford, McKinnie, Ellerbe, and our draft for $10m.

So IMO we should wait until right before the draft starts before we should cut Birk. Because then we'll know if we were able to get Ellerbe/McKinnie for the established values that we placed on them- or less. But that's just my opinion.

I agree with the talk about Birk. I wanted to just hear the consensus on his situation and what has been said sounds great.

Play the wait and see with Birk for now.

There is a list of our FAs at the bottom of my cap sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AifIG4zYDHpHdDdkbnlZaG55NlU4UmY4eS1DY0x2YUE#gid=0

To get us started here is the FAs I think we could potentially look to bring back and a price to consider:

LS Morgan Cox (Vet mimimum $630k)
OG Ramon Harewood (Vet minimum $630k)
OT Bryant McKinnie (Vet minimum $940k and/or incentive laden deal)
ILB Dannell Ellerbe (Average $3m per year deal)

Others to consider but I have no real opinion on either way:

DT Ryan McBean (Vet minimum $715k) I thought this was a good pickup last year but suspension and then injury robbed him of the season. Might be worth it for vet minimum.

NT Ma'ake Kemoeatu (Vet minimum $940k) This was a good signing for 2012 as he started over Cody but how much he has left in the tank is a question mark. He could be brought back for vet minimum and then end up being a training camp final cut.

FS James Ihedigbo (Vet minimum $715k) Provided depth at safety. I think he is brought back for vet minimum again and will compete for the backup safety spot. A cheap option for depth.

WR David Reed (Vet minimum $630k) He has done nothing on the team. At this point we only bring him back to give him 1 final shot to perform. A cheap option for depth but I would prefer to draft a WR late and see if we can unearth a gem.

Alright, all the Tier 4 FAs are now represented:

Quote:
OLB Anthony Spencer - eddie mac
OLB Paul Kruger - Tatupu_64
RB Michael Turner - Jaytotha
DT Randy Starks - Iceman88
CB Cary Williams - jrry32
DT Glenn Dorsey - MKnight82
DB Louis Delmas - Porter22

So get your bribes, I mean write-ups ready. I'm working with CWood on updating the official FFMD schedule to give teams time to bid on the Tier 4 FAs...

Tier 4 has begun for free agency. Do we plan on placing any bids in on these players ??

Tier 4 hasn't begun, its just been decided that there will be a Tier 4.

Tier 1 is first (well duh Razz ) and that starts tomorrow morning. We don't have the cap space to afford any of them, but here's who's up for grabs and who their agents are anyway:
Tier One wrote:
WR Greg Jennings - CWood21
WR Dwayne Bowe - TheVillain112
WR Wes Welker - tylerdouglass
OT Jake Long - Desperado82
OG Andy Levitre - CWood21
DE Cliff Avril - drd23
OLB James Harrison - mse326
CB Brent Grimes - TheVillain112

So far the vote is a yes to cut Bobbie Williams but hold onto Birk unless we need his cap room for a signing

Definitely just cut Bobbie Williams. We can bring in a rookie backup guard for much cheaper. I totally agree with keeping Birk until we need to get rid of him. If we can keep him and he doesn't decide to retire, I'd like to keep his veteran leadership on the OL.

There's no harm in seeing how things play out. If he have to let him go, I have faith in Gino.

So Ellerbe doesn't have an agent? Does that mean we'd have to give him the highest contract in order to sign him and hometown doesn't plat a role in this?

Well it just means he's in the shark tank. But yeah, highest bid wins... though after a certain number of bids, certain players will be brought up to the Talent Agency to be represented by an agent.

I actually like that he's in the shark tank, it means we have a chance of getting him for cheap if we play our cards right... and get a little lucky. A well placed bid, in the beginning, while others are chasing strong names and I think we might have a shot. Not sure how strong a shot, but it's certainly possible to get him back at a reduced price.

Could Richard Seymour be worth taking a run at if he is cheap enough. He could be a quality 5 tech, on the cheap.

Won't be anything cheap about Seymour.
