Hello Oakland Staff
Would you guys have any interest in Demeco Ryans? I know I talked to someone on your staff briefly. 3rd is our asking price _________________

My bad then. I don't understand why we would do that. | i didn't either, just trying to make everyone happy.
How about...

Seattle sends:
Matt Flynn
Seattle's 7th
Oakland sends:
Oakland 4th
Taiwan Jones |
I think 2 7ths from us was lowering Flynns value a bit too much |
Imo, that's something we could do if we go through with the Saints trade. |
Ok . . .
I think what we need is definitive clarity as to what we are doing with Palmer. I was under the impression that we were extending Palmer to reduce his cap number.? Regardless, we need to either extend or restructure in order to reduce his number.
Imo, the Raiders are already short on draft picks, and if we are being realistic McKenzie is very frugal with draft picks, hence the Raiders will most likely reduce Palmer's number. However, it's difficult to move forward with a split vision. IMO, the should reflect the vision of the GM. No where in football does everyone's vote carry the same weight.
Personally, I was under the impression we were moving forward with Palmer, hence I have no idea why there is interest in Fylnn?? With the Saint's deal nixed I offered Jones for Washington. The Raiders need a reliable veteran returner/3DRB and the Seahawks could use a young CoP back, imo, with the ultimate goal of freeing the Raiders up to move Ford.
My current votes:
NO on the Flynn trade
Yes on Jones for Leon Washington (provided Sea still wants to do that)
No on Jones for Ross (I think Adams or Hanson has earned the right to start)
No on moving Palmer
Yes on making Palmer a priority to extend or restructure |
What we do with Palmer depends on the opportunities we have along the way. Extending him isn't a great option, it works in this FFMD, but it also pushes a lot of guaranteed money into future years which is to be avoided if we can. When we're down to that last option, we'll be able to extend him. Until then, i wouldn't close the door an any alternative. There's a good opportunity right there so i thought it was worth discussing, and i consulted with Jtagg first who gave me the green light to bring it up in here.
And Jones for Leon Washington makes no sense due to the cap, it's a no for me.
Ross isn't worth his salary. No, as well.
The rest is adressed above. We're keeping our extension in case we need it for Palmer, he's expendable though. _________________

Agreed, I think we should take a step back from the Ross deal. Oakdb, what do you think of the Ford + Branch for Greer + Sproles + 7th deal? From a cap, fairness, fit and talent standpoint? _________________

As far as the Saints trade is concerned, i'd rather a 4th than Greer but if the staff decides to go with the 2nd trade offer, i'm ok with it.
The way i look at it, we could add Flynn + Sproles and move down in the 4th for Branch, Ford and Jones all while clearing cap space and allowing us to clear even more with Palmer. The cap room would then help us in FA.
Flynn would be under contract for 2 years at a very reasonable salary with no signing bonus, so we wouldn't be handcuffed either.
The benefit seems obvious to me.
Edit, we'd also add a 7th from the Seahawks.
So, Flynn, Sproles, trade down in the 4th, 7th (and more cap room) for Branch, Ford and Jones. _________________

| Saints AGM again. We just recognized, that our 7th rounder was traded earlier this Season (for Barrett Rudd -.-). Would it be ok for you guys to get our 6th and we receive the 13th pick in round 7? |

It was actually the Tramon Williams trade. The terms of the Rudd trade were never released. _________________

I vote yes. | Oh no do we need to make a complete new vote on this one? It's exactly the same value via the Draft Pick Value Chart like the other trade! |
