#Alabama tackle D.J. Fluker won't make it past pick No. 20, per a source.

I'm not exactly sure what this means. Since Bears pick 20 are you suggesting that somebody from the Bears leaked info that if Fluker was there at 20 he'd be the pick?
Supposedly.

Well I guess that could be possible but I figure it's a bit early for any organization to be locking themselves into a specific player without knowing how the draft will shake out. Heck I'm sure the Chiefs don't even know who they absolutely want at #1 just yet. And while he is a good prospect, you cannot tell me that Fluker is the #1 rated prospect on Phil Emery's board.
Fluker not getting past #20 may be true but I don't think quote has any basis as far as actual evidence to support it. We heard lots of talk last draft and none of it was about Shea McClellin.

I assume we were showing attention to Fluker at the Senior Bowl and that paired with our need.

That sounds likely. I hope we were.

I'm sure we were looking at him but we were probably looking at 50 players there. The report at this stage is nothing more than matching player with need.

Here is the hypothetical challenge. I am interested in how you guys would go about building an offseason around D.J Fluker. I know the rumor means nothing but it could be interesting.

Free Agents

-

-

-

Draft

1[20] OT/OG D.J Fluker [Alabama] 6'5" 355lbs.

2[50]

4.

5.

6.

I'll be very, very disappointed if Fluker is our pick at 20. He's not a first round pick. His ability to play Tackle in the NFL is questionable, and he may just be too damn big to play Guard.

This is from one of the scouts at the Senior Bowl:

Quote:
Fluker allowed more sacks than any tackle in BCS-level football each of the last two seasons. He's been known to ignore outside rushers that he knows he can't stop too.

What is too big to play OG?

I went back to the game that people use to attack Fluker [Western Kentucky] and he gave up 1 sack to Quenterris Smith. 2 sacks were give up against the LT.

Watch it and tell me you do no see him dominating.

Fluker plays against 1st round picks every game of the season and I still doubt he leads BCS in sacks allowed.

"I thought even in pass protection this year he did a heck of a job," Kiper Jr. said. "That was the big question mark with him. Got very incredibly long arms, physical, tough player. I thought he held up a lot better in pass protection."

Thanks!

For Both of my free agents, I preface by saying I'm certain their prospective teams let them walk, but I think they could be had at fairly reasonable prices if they do.

Brandon Myers is a guy people don't talk much about, but he was one of the few consistencies on that offense. Think he's a guy who is really growing into a reliable TE.

Andy Levitre has apparently told the Bills he wants to shop around. If we can get him for a decent price, I can't help but think his versatility would be perfect for us.

Fluker in the first

Khaseem Greene in the second. I love this guy. As far as an athletic LB goes, I don't understand the hype for Ogletree. This guy can cover AND defend the run.

Marquise Goodwin. Track star to compliment the big guys on the outside.

Tyrann Mathieu. Say what you will about us drafting people with a shady background or what you think of him. But I think, if he can get back to where he was after the time off, he could be perfect as a Nickel roaming around our D.

So Fluker plays RT and Levitre at LG?

I would be happy with that offseason.

I think Meyers is just a guy, but he is a competent pass catcher and blocker and would at least stabilize the position.

My thoughts as well. He's at least an improvement and who knows? Maybe he flourishes.
