NYG wants to let more votes in as do I; we're giving it until noon tomorrow to make sure everyone's aboard (or not). _________________ Football is love, love is life. |

I'm going to wait a bit longer to put in my vote but I'm leaning yes right now. |

That means he started 9% more snaps than Delmas, and 3 more games. His season in 2012 was way better than any season Delmas has ever enjoyed in Detroit.
DrRay, make the trade. |
If we don't do this trade it's going to be a mistake. He's exactly what we need to add, and it's a perfect situation to get it done. _________________

Just snooping around. To answer your question, we have ~14 million dollars invested at the safety position (not counting Stevie) and 3 great safeties. KP was franchised so he cannot be traded. Antrel was restructured so he would cost 4 million dollars more to trade than to keep, so he wouldn't make sense to trade. That leaves Stevie as the only option.
As for the price: We are realistic that teams love their draft picks and asking for a solid high 2nd round pick for him, we would get no bites. Instead of going into free agnecy next year with KP and Stevie both UFA, we are willing to trade Brown and get something for him.
Same situation as the Cruz situation for us. Have to make a decision between Cruz and Nicks, but here the decision is made for us, since we can only trade one. | wouldnt it make sence to keep the younger guy? or you keep an older kp im not sure how much sence that makes, seems you did this just for the picks which is fine. but if he was any good id take the younger. plus dont you do alot of 3 saftey looks. i know its all for fun but something doesnt seem right about it. i mean you value him a high 2nd but you'll take a 3rd.. i think the trade should be more creative. i dont like giving up a very high 3rdp.. plus if this carried over and to be realistic we'd have to turn around and sign him next year for who knows what kind of contract. the same reasoning you let him go for. lol im just glad this aint real heh. |

Is Brown more of a strong or free safety? Cause I really like some of the safeties in this draft and some of them could easily fall in the 3rd round.
He would be an instant upgrade over any safety we have now, and we could solidify the position in the draft I guess. Plus, his cap hit isn't too steep.
Right now it's close but I have to go with yay on this, scout. _________________

Exactly.
On top of that he set the Giants single season record for interception return yardage. In college he was a captain and played some linebacker as well so the guy can tackle. He has special team experience in college where he lead the Wolverines in ST tackles in 2007. His INT return yardage ranked 4th highest in a single season ever in the NFL. He had the most interceptions since 1968 for the Giants with 8, which also ranked 2nd in the NFL.
In 2012 he had 76 tackles. 11 passes defended, 8 interceptions, 307 INT return yards (38.4 yard average), 2 FF, 2 FR.
He turns 26 in July.
In comparison, Delmas turns 26 in April.
Delmas' career numbers look like this...
191 tackles, 16 passes defended, 3 interceptions, 130 INT return yards (65 yard average), 2 FF, 4 FR, 1 TD.
*As you can see, Brown's numbers in one season were almost as good if not better than Delmas' career numbers in 4 years, and Brown is much more of an impact player.*
Delmas played in 49 games in 4 years.
Brown played in 39 games in 3 years. He started 11 last year, and one for Oakland in 2010.
Brown is listed as a SS on the NYG website. He was also listed as a SS on his scouting report coming out of college, but someone else should look into what position he'd be best at. _________________
