I really do think Jarvis Jones will be there at 17, but didn't want to bet on it in my mock.
Hunter's small frame scares me some, but seeing AJ Green do what he does helps with that case.
Bell in the 3rd is good, but he really has trouble getting back to the line of scrimmage sometimes, but with good coach could be something special. Reminds me of a poor mans Eddie George.
Dion Sims is a solid pick, as he did have one issue with the stolen merchandise, but that should be past him. Reminds me of a better Saunders.
I think there is a place on the team for Robert Golden, even though he was badly exposed in the Browns(maybe another) game. However, hitting the S positions that hard could prove to be good.
I like taking a ILB later as we still have question marks around Spence. So a mid to late spot seems to be the correct value, as the top ILBs have some questions marks.
Very solid draft. |

First four picks are solid. Sims is ok. S. Williams in the 5th would be great value. Don't know the others. |

I like it but Jones doesn't make it to 17 and Hunter doesn't make it to 48, and Shawn Williams doesn't make it to the 5th, so not likely, IMO.
The rest is good, though I can't say I know much about your two picks in the 7th, but I'm all for a 6'3" WR. I do like Bell in the 3rd and Sims in the 4th.
Did you mean Steve Beauharnais from Rutgers or Sam Barrington from S. Fla? The latter would be a bit of a reach in the 6th, but it's the 6th, so hard to define reaches that late in the draft. _________________

I would be pretty giddy if he fell to us here.
Round 2 WR Justin Hunter from Tennessee 6 Foot 4 196 lbs
My favorite WR in the draft. I would be doing cartwheels if he fell that far to us.
Round 3 RB Leveon Bell from Michigan State 6 Foot 1 230 lbs
I would prefer a back with a different style and ability to turn the corner.
Round 3B FS TJ Mcdonald from USC 6 foot 3 219 lbs
Don't like his coverage ability. He is very stiff in the hips. He is a great athlete, but doesn't translate it on the field with big plays and productivity. I would prefer Rambo UGA.
Round 4 TE Dion Sims from Michigan State 6 Foot 5 252 lbs
The world doesn't need another love song and the Steelers don't need another back-up TE. I would look at a NG or OL here
Round 5 SS Shawn Williams from Georgia 6 Foot 213 lbs
I don't think he falls this far, but I would like this pick. We would have our future safeties.
Round 6 ILB Sam Barrington from Rutgers 6 Foot 1 246 lbs
Don't know about him, but Rutgers puts out some decent pro players.
Round 7A CB Travis Howard from Ohio State 6 Foot 198 lbs
Don't know about.
Round 7B WR Justin Brown from Oklahoma 6 Foot 3 207 lbs
I would go for OL or NG as we have Cotchery and Plaxico despite losing Sanders in your scenario. |
Overall nice draft. I would give you an A+ on the first two picks, C on the next 3 and a B on the rest. I like other players better than some that you picked, but I like your overall strategy. I echo most of the sentiments others have shared.
Big fan of this....and thats not easy. Most drafts I have a problem with.
Not a big fan of Bell in the 3rd, but if we got Jones and Hunter in the first two rounds, Id be just fine with it.
However, I can pretty much guarantee Hunter wont fall that far. _________________

lmao well said | steelers really don't need another back up NT either. It's take a NT in round 1 or 2, or don't draft one. _________________ RIP SSF mike23md

Very nice mock. I might go for a different position in the fifth but overall I would be really pleased with that draft. _________________

Completely agree with you Turtle. See how McLendon performs and grab one early next year if necessary. I checked on the NT free agents and there aren't many. I am concerned about Taamu & Fangupo as our only depth. And Hood I suppose. |
