Nice well done man.
Also it looks like we can restructure up to 2 contracts. Tyson Jackson baby!
February 4th- 8 AM- Contract Restructuring/Pending Free Agency Re-signing begins
Have you guys ever thought about restructuring Berry? Obviously dont want to get rid of him either way but his cap hit is #4 in the NFL at S. If we can't think of anyone else to try and restructure then i feel he is a good candidate.
Anyone wanna take a guess who's #1 and 2? |

Guys who would save us the most $$$.
Matt Cassel- Saves 7.85 Mil if cut after June 2nd and Dead Money Spread out. Saves 5.875 if we take the full hit.
Tyson Jackson- Saves 14.72 Mil after a 2.525 Mil Cap Penalty
Andy Studebaker- Saves 2.005 Mil. No Penalty
Kevin Boss- Saves 2.4 Mil. No Penalty |
So we have 6.3 million with rookie salaries? I'm going to guess and say that the rookie salaries totaled up are at about 5 million, leaving us at 11.3 million currently? We just have to make sure we have enough to resign bowe/albert and tag the other. Cutting Cassel seems like a no-brainer, that'd put us at 19 million, which is something we can definitely work with. Unless we only end up saving 5.8 million like you also listed. Ideally I'd want us to keep Jackson so we can restructure his contract. I also like both Boss and Studebaker but wouldn't have a problem cutting them if we had to. _________________

| Pretty much on board with everything you just said. I would like to keep Stud and Boss but not at the expense of more useful players |

Concerning the cap: wait until the FFMD figures come out. They differ from real world numbers. Furthermore, FFMD does not take into account off-season pay (about 5 M$).
Samsel, if you used my latest spreadsheet be aware I put aside approx. 10M$ as rollover into 2014. _________________ Be it known that this day, January 4, be known as Reid Friday from now until ... well, as long as it lasts ... |

The Seahawks want a 3rd rounder for Matt Flynn. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? _________________

I was thinking the same thing but you also have to consider that most teams start off with an asking price higher than what they'd be willing to part with. _________________

I wouldn't give up anything more than our 5th for Flynn considering we have the first pick in the round. _________________

Also, I posted this as our trading block in the trading block thread and have already received questions about two guys. (Hali and Breaston)
1st overall pick
Tamba Hali
Matt Cassel
Tyson Jackson
Jonathan Baldwin
Steve Breaston
Andy Studebaker
What does everyone think would be fair value that we'd be willing to part with for each player?
I'd say:
Tamba Hali - 1st rounder, possibly 2nd rounder + more picks, let me think more on that one
Matt Cassel - lol
Tyson Jackson - not sure
Jonathan Baldwin - 3rd rounder, maybe? Late 2nd rounder?
Steve Breaston - 6th rounder
Studebaker - 6th rounder _________________

With his contract, I wouldn't give up more than a 6th. _________________

I'd want a 4th for Breaston (maybe a high 5th)
other than that looks good. _________________

I was thinking the same thing about Flynn. I was trying to think of a way we could dump salary and give them maybe a 5th round pick, but I just don't see a deal happening from anything like that. I'm just going to throw out any trade offers we get so they can be discussed. _________________

Matt Cassel is and has been the unquestioned leader of his team for four years now. Anything less than a 1st round pick would be unacceptable if we were to trade him.
On a serious note, though, no way Tamba goes for a 1st rounder. I'd take a mid-late 2nd rounder or a high 3rd rounder but no less. Other fans realize that he's getting up there in age and he hasn't had the statistical success this season that we've become accustomed to seeing from him. The question is whether a 2nd/3rd rounder would be appropriate value for him and also, how would we replace him? _________________
