Great writeup JCH!

Bryan Anger who? Laughing

Our defense is already one of the top 5 in the league. If he gives our defense great field position to work with we will be even more nasty.

Rounds 1-5 are over and round 6-7 bids are open. Still some prospects I really like. I'm going to send you a list PD and tell me what you think and who you had in mind.

i dont see the need for keeping it secret at this point, once we make a bid, its not like we can really up it any

having said that i know a lot of you like RB Knile Davis Arkansas so i placed a bid of our 7th rounder on him, we will see where it goes from there

I really like Christine Michael, but as of right now it would take a 6th to get him

everyone feel free to post suggestions

Since PM's arent really necessary to discuss bids, here are some people I think we should make a bid on:

6th round bids:

RB Knile Davis Arkansas
RB Cierre Wood Notre Dame
S Robert Lester Alabama
WR Josh Boyce TCU
G Hugh Thornton Illinois (perfect for the ZBS and adds depth)

7th round bids:

RB Rex Burkhead Nebraska
RB Theo Reddick Notre Dame
S/CB Dax Swanson Sam Houston St.
CB DJ Hayden Houston (A little homer in me Very Happy )

Recommendations

6th
FB / TE Kyle Juszczyk (Harvard) could be our NEW Casey
Quote:
Demonstrated the ability to play in a West Coast system as a fullback at the Senior Bowl. He gets to his assignments as a blocker, catches the football well and contributed on special teams. Excellent value pick on day 3 (4th-7th rounds).
Kyle Juszczyk from Harvard is an ideal H-back/fullback candidate. He has been impressive as a lead blocker on the inside run game and has decleated a number of linebackers in the run drills. He is a fine receiver out of the backfield or as a wing has been excellent all week. He has soft hands, runs good routes and is physical after the catch.

Juszczyk led the Ivy League with eight touchdown receptions and led a potent Harvard team with 52 catches for 706 yards (13.6 ypc). For his career, he set the mark for all Harvard tight ends with 125 catches (6th all-time) for 1,576 yards (7th all-time) and 22 touchdowns (3rd all-time).

Strengths: Good H-back/fullback candidate. Good lead blocker, with the ability to de-cleat defenders. Soft hands, runs solid routes and can pick up the tough yards after the catch.
Weaknesses: Level of competition concerns. Must display the versatility to be able to line up in the backfield and be an effective lead blocker in the hole against NFL linebackers.

WR Marcus Davis (Virginia Tech)
RB Knile Davis (Arkansas) (from Sugar Land!)
S / ILB Cooper Taylor (Richmond)
WR Ryan Harrison (Rutgers)
WR / HB / KR Denard Robinson (Michigan)

7th
DL Glenn Foster (Illinois)
CB D.J. Hayden (Houston)
WR Josh Boyce (TCU)
WR Tavarres King (Georgia)
TE Joseph Fauria (UCLA)

I see we are both on the same page with Hayden. Laughing

I know UH's defense has been horrible for what seems like years, but Hayden is very underrated. He came to us 2 seasons ago from JUCO and prior to his season ending/life threatening injury he was having a fantastic senior season. Only knack I have on him is his size.

If it wasn't for his life-threatening situation, he would of had a chance to get picked day 2. Getting him round 6 or 7 is robbery. Would love the Texans to take a chance on him in April.

Concur, family member was coach at UH and said "that young rabbit is FAST" (Disclaimer: that was before his injury)

I thought he had good size (height wise). I know UH listed him at something ridiculous like 6'1 or 6'2 and he was closer to 5'11. Laughing

He would probably have to be on IR until the know for certain about that chest / heart injury - that was scary! Shocked

Update so far:

Rams placed a bid on Kniles Davis - pick 208 so we HAVE to use our 6th rounder if we want a shot at him

Broncos placed a bid on S Robert Lester- pick 220

I wouldnt mind going a 6th round for Davis, if we lose out on him then we could pursue another RB if you want. I like Michael too.

I also like the other RB's I suggested.

What do you think we should do with our 7th rounder now that we have gotten outbid?

Philip Lutzenkirchen (Auburn, yeah thats how you spell his last name) Laughing
*He could be our Joel Dresseen in the redzone. Got hurt this past season.

Joseph Fauria, like JCH suggested is another one we should look at also.

I'd vote for Joseph Fauria as well. For RB, I'd vote Michael Ford from LSU.
