Welcome to the 2013 FFMD Houston Texans War Room
If you are new to ff.com or perhaps just haven’t read up on them lately the rules can be found here:
http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9338
Also you can find the FFMD 13 rules here:
http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=510796
I’ve just received word from Mr. McNair that Houston Texans General Manager Rick Smith has announced he is stepping down from the position and Mr. McNair has asked me to take over his post. After careful consideration, I’ve decided to fire Gary Kubiak. We thank Gary for the professionalism he has shown, and we are confident that this will not be his last coaching stop. We have also decided to let go of every staff member that Gary has brought in and we will be hiring a new coach. Ive asked Amazingandre to serve as the AGM, and dsorc has volunteered to handle the Salary cap for us.
We are going to be choosing a staff in a little different way this year. I want everyone who would like a position to be assured that we will find you a spot and regardless of your position, you WILL have a say in the way things go. To make this more interesting, I want everyone interested in the Head Coaching position to make a pitch as to why you would be most effective running our team as we compete for a Super Bowl. After a 24 hour period we will name a Head Coach, and we will allow that person to fill out his staff(Offense, Defense and Special Teams).
We are going to have a lot of fun over the next several weeks and we are going to build a Super Bowl championship team in the process. We are going to argue, debate and disagree, but we are going to do it all with an agreeable attitude.
Everyone is welcome to participate and we will give everyone the chance to have a voice.

I'd be down for a college scout position. More specifically the wide receivers. _________________

Not sure if I'll have a ton of time, but I'd like to do some college scouting, as usual. You'd need more than one college scout anyway, probably. _________________

Thanks Pastor for appointing me as AGM. I look forward to upgrading this team with some good people helping out. I hope we hear lots of opinions on all the decisions that are made.
One we get a few people "hired" into positions we can start answering your questions and decide which direction to head this off-season. _________________

1. Do we want to move on from Matt Schuab as QB of the Texans?
Nope. The QB class in this draft is not good and there isnt a FA on the market that can come in and do a better job than Schaub.
2. Who do we want to place on the trading Block?
I would start by putting Ben Tate on the trading block. Some NFL team will want a RB that could be a feature back and the RB class this year in the draft is weak.
3. Who do we need to resign?
Glover Quin should be our first priority resigning. If we let him go then we almost certainly have to address SS early in the draft. Connor Barwin is another guy that we have to try and resign. If his agent wants more than we could offer then I say let him walk. I would like for us to resign James Casey, Tim Dobbins as ILB depth, Brice McCain and Donnie Jones.
4. What are our top 3 priorities this off season?
Top 3 priorities this offseason should be upgrading at WR, getting an ILB to go along with Cushing, and trying to get a nose tackle if we do indeed like Shaun Cody go. Depth on the right side of the OL wouldnt be bad either.
5. If you could draft any player from this year’s class who would it be (imagine we had the 1st pick, who would have the biggest impact on our team)?
If I could draft any player from this year's class I would probably draft Star Lotulelei simply because he fills a need at nose tackle. He is big, athletic and he showed the knack for rushing the passer this past season at Utah. He would be a nice fit next to Watt. _________________

I'm honored to be chosen as the capologist. I have a spreadsheet with the cap hits for next year ready to go. Waiting for the FFMD mods to make available their numbers so I can update it. If I made any errors let me know. I'll keep the sheet updated as we progress through FFMD. _________________

I think it would depend on who we got to lighten the burden on Arian (I have some ideas on that).
But, I would be in favor of moving Tate, for a 3rd or high 4th round pick. Also depending on the team, I might ask for some filler.
I would also add KW and Shiloh to said trade block. |

I'm good with moving Tate for maybe a 3rd or 4th. _________________

I would think to start Tate off with a 2nd round pricetag. See if anybody is desperate enough. I would also think about putting Wade and Antonio Smith on the trade block. Both of them hold some value and moving them would save 9 mill in cap space. I'm assuming people will want us to make a move on one of the big name WRs but we will probably need to create some cap space to do so. Maybe dangle Walter as well though I don't know if we'd find a buyer for him. _________________
