This is a bit narrow minded.
Stephens had 70 snaps this year rushing the passer. Not 19 games.
He had
1 sack
8 hurries.
Thats a ratio that puts him 16th best in the league for 43 DE's. And that was also primarily from the right side as well. |
I think your view is more narrow than mine... I'm looking at his entire career, your looking at 70 snaps.
 |
fair enough, I gave you his numbers for this year, so here's 2011
he had 50 snaps rushing, with 3 pressures, not a good ratio.
He had zero snaps in 2010.
But still. He improved in year two before being put on I.R.
I think he deserves a chance to show his worth. Worst case we cut him and take half his salary in a cap it. no biggie. |
Yes... True.... But that does give us Stephens, English, hall, and Adams all competing for two spots...
ILB is a bit swollen as well... _________________

This is a terrible idea.
I'd give Wilson a 5th round value. That trade would give him a high third round value. He's not that bad, he's just not that good at anything either. And with the plethora or CB's in FA, its a bad idea. |
OK, so here are Wilsons' stats
snaps- 966
% catches allowed- 54.8%
YAC/ Rec- 21.1
TD- 2
INT-1
PD- 3
MT- 5
Pen- 5
He's not bad, but he's not good. He's definitely not worth a 3rd round pick. |
What is he worth to you?
Or is it not even worth pursuing at all? |
That much. |
Doesnt mean he would fit into your plans at that value _________________

My position by position thoughts right now.
CB - I think this FA CB class is fantastic, I think there are at least 4 guys available who would solve our #2 CB need for sure, I think between Wade, Skrine, and Bademosi we are okay for backups/slot guys.
OLB - I think we need to get someone in FA for depth and to help with the transition as well as someone in the draft to give us a long range starter.
TE - If we don't resign Watson we're gonna need a starter and a blocking backup.
FS - I think we should aggressively pursue one in FA and then look to the draft if we don't get one we like.
DE - I'd like to get one with experience in the 3-4 to go with Taylor/Hughes/Winn/Rucker, but talking a minimum salary pure backup type.
OG - Wouldn't hurt to get an upgraded starter, but I think we could also survive with a depth signing and another year for Lauvao/Pinkston to develop and mesh.
WR - Would like to get one more above average receiver, preferably a veteran with reliable hands.
RB - I'm in the camp that would like a change of pace guy to be the #3, but OGBYN coming back would not be the end of the world.
P - We need a punter, whether we get one in FA or the 6th/7th doesn't matter much to me.
So in summary, we should go after a #2 CB, Good OLB, Starting TE, #2/3 WR, elite FS, depth guard, punter, speedy RB, and depth 3-4 DE in FA.
Not saying we'll get all of them, but we should make a play for them. _________________

Depth at OG is not needed, starter if anything.
Depth at 34 DE is not needed at all IMO. We are actually going to have to cut someone (Sanford) _________________

Assuming we don't get a starter at OG, I'd like to get a solid backup for OG/OT. We assume our depth is good because our LT, RT, and C missed a total of 0 snaps all year. Our current second string LT is Oniel Cousins, and Ryan Miller is the only one behind him. So I guess I'm saying I agree, but I would feel much better with a 3rd OT and it wouldn't hurt if he could play G too.
As for DE, like I said I'm interested in someone who has past experience in the 3-4, not so much for depth as for the experience factor. But obviously, the priority on this one is waaay behind CB, OLB, FS, TE, WR, P and probably OT and RB too. _________________

Got ya.
I'm going to go back up an underline guys I would cut from defense sooner rather than later. Haha _________________

What are the tenders for OBGYN and Norwood?
If cheap, i'd like to retain them. _________________
