- QB to challenge Dalton in the near future.
- QB to back up Dalton.
- Project QB.

So done with projects. If i see another 6th round pick that's handed the #2 job i might flip.

At a minimum there needs to be a nice FA signing. I'd love to see a 3rd-4th round pick to back him up. If they do elect to go with a 1st rounder, A) i'd be shocked and B) i'd be happy with that. The really great teams don't rest on their laurels, at any position, when they know they don't have great players.

I want someone to push Dalton and hopefully take over for him. I don't want any projects. I don't see us drafting one early honestly

Do they think Johnson, McElroy or Robinson are good enough to take over from Dalton if he goes down, and win games ? After what Gruden said about Johnson in 'Hard Knocks', I doubt it.

I think they'll look for a better quality vet FA back up, but I'll be very surprised if they draft one in the first five rounds. I think, they think, they have 5 more priority positions to draft for than QB.

For me then they might draft a 'project QB' if they think he's better than Robinson or McElroy.

This. So much this. Applause

While I wouldn't be targeting a QB in the 1st round, I wouldn't be opposed to taking one if they felt the guy was the BPA and a good fit. I find that to be a highly unlikely situation, however.

I want to see us take a QB in the 2nd-3rd round, with 4th round being the absolute latest. I do NOT want to see another Josh Johnson or Bruce Gradkowsi as the primary backup next season. I want someone with upside and who the Bengals could groom to be a starter in 2015 if Dalton flops next season.

If our backup is McElroy, Robinson, a 6th-7th rounder, or some scrub I've never heard of... I won't be happy. That would be a very unwise route for the Bengals to go; they need to have some sort of contingency plan in place in case Dalton doesn't work out.

There isn't really a certain category I want to see a QB mostly have. In all honesty, I would prefer a guy that is balanced in all 3 of those types.

The best guys are gonna be all gone after the 1st and 2nd round and there's no chance the Bengals will draft someone there that high. 3rd round will be the earliest they go.

We were all saying that about Tyler Bray if I recall last year

I think one of the top 4 QB's will be available when we pick in the 1st. IF that happens, we would be insane to not grab them why we can. With the rookie wage scale it is not the cap suicide to have 2 QB's on the roster that are drafted high. Hell, San Diego had Rivers and Brees on the roster BEFORE the rookie wage scale and made it work. IMO, the teams biggest need is at QB and if you get a chance to address it you have to jump on it.

Don't draft the fourth best QB in the draft in the first round.Surely there will be a BPA?

Well most consider the top 4 QBs this year top 10 picks. Like the year Rodgers was taken late first round. He was considered a top 10 pick and he ended up proving everyone right.

Watching Derek Carr, he could easily be the best QB in the draft and seems to have all the intangibles. I would certainly take him if he falls...
