i believe we can try to re-sign up to 3 players. thats how it was last year. But I think Andre Smith is more important than MJ93

Menelik Watson was an interesting name. Superb athlete, supremely talented very raw but had the potential to be a dancing bear on the end. A former basketball player too. Could go late round 2/early round 3.

I would say keep it realistic as well. My sense is this will lose appeal if it's a total free for all.

I like the idea of not tendering Peerman and Miles and potentially signing them to min contracts. Peerman especially. Valuable special teamer.

The franchise tag numbers for DE's is (projected) 10.98 million while the OL number is 9.66 million so it would be cheaper to tag Andre. With that said I think there's a greater chance of us resigning Andre as opposed to MJ on the open market and I also think Andre can be signed for less than the 9.66 million, while I wouldn't be shocked if in this FFMD MJ approaches the 11 million a year range. So tagging him makes a lot of fiscal sense.

Definitely tag Andre Smith. In both GM mocks I've done, everyone has been OL crazy. Sam Baker will go for $10M. Much easier to sign a DE Michael Bennett if need be to replace MJ93...

That's interesting. Looking at the FA market for OT and DE, I see more potential replacements at RT in free agency and also in Roland and Collins two guys who if needed could start, worst case scenario.

But with that said this draft class is DEEP for 4-3 DE's, and though there are a lot of RT's in this draft class I feel more confident finding a steal like Tank Carradine, Lavar Edwards or Michael Buchanan in the mid rounds. Buchanan and Carradine are first round talents but they are largely underrated on this board, especially Buchanan (who I am admittedly higher on than most). Lavar Edwards might be better than Sam Montgomery in the NFL if you ask me, more fluid pass rusher off the edge.

So on our trade block is Taylor Mays, Jason Allen, Anthony Collins, Kyle Cook and Jermaine Gresham. Any rough valuation for those guys? At least a starting point for potential negotiations?

I'd say Cook, Collins and Allen should be worth at least a fourth-fifth round pick and Mays a sixth or seventh. Gresham, I'd say a second should be a rough valuation.

We shouldn't trade Collins unless Smith is re-signed. Even then why part with him? His trade value isn't very high and a replacement taken with the draft pick we get for him is unlikely to be as good. Same thing with Gresham. We should ask for a 1st for a guy who's been in the probowl the last couple years. Better yet, just keep him. Basically there's no reason for the Bengals to trade anyone on last year's 53 man roster unless we get a good offer for them. We may end up cutting some of these guys but let preseason determine that.

I don't expect to trade any players at all, but think that nobody should be untouchable.

I wouldn't trade Collins until Smith is resigned either. I still would sign MJ93 first, with Collins already locked into a contract.

I'm largely in agreement with this. But these are merely starting points for negotiations - there's no guarantee we are trading anyone. But it's a mere valuation, and a rough one at that.

Definitely I don't think that there is any assumption we are trading anyone at this point.

To speak to INbengalfan's point I'm in agreement. I value Collins, but if we do resign Roland and Andre Smith I think Collins can be traded and we can draft a swing tackle at some point if need be. But for now, yes I agree he shouldn't be dealt.

I would not trade Gresham for solely a second round pick. He is deffinetly worth more than that.

Seems the consensus is that Gresham's valuation is a first correct? Even then I'm assuming we'd have to take a vote before we did any trade.

But if we did trade Gresham for a first wouldn't we end up drafting a TE within the first three rounds again? I'm not sure he's worth trading at all. I personally wouldn't. It's fair to put him on the block but I think it'll take a seriously great offer to get him, if possible at all.

I dont think we should even put gresham on the trade block because I cant see any team offering us what we want for him. If we did trade him for a 1st, we would need a TE and we would have to draft either zach ertz or tyler eifert to even come close to what gresham did for the bengals. the only problem with gresham is his hands. other than that he has been to the pro bowl 2 years in a row. He has the ability to change a game. so i would keep him.
