Sweezy? He has a lot of potential, I mean this kid was playing D-line a year ago and went from starting on the O-line. If he learns that fast, then he's almost guaranteed to be a quality starter. He's got all the necessary athleticism. |
First off, he can't play both guard spots... Second, he was a 7th rounder. There should be no expectations for him to start immediately, and he obviously was not ready for it last year. I like him and he has made tremendous strides and could be a very good guard in the future, but we don't know that yet. Our plans should not be relying on him to become a starting caliber Guard. |
Well I am assuming Carpenter will be fine and start at LG. Then Moffitt and McQ are our guard depth. IDK, they say line play improves the most with continuity. And while I am nowhere near an offensive line expert, I read Derek Stephens work, a former scout, whenever I can, and he is very confident JR Sweezy will become our best guard. I trust him quite alot.
Anyways, I like our young talent at guard. I think D-line needs more of an injection in terms of young talent.

We should try and see what it takes to get Justin Cole from the Rams. He would be the ideal SLB for us. Athletic, young, and great at rushing the passer. He is also very serviceable in speacial teams. I bet we could get him for a 6th or 7th round draft pick

If you were the Rams GM would you trade anybody that looks like a gr8 fit to a team in your division? I SAH wouldn't. Certainly not for a 6th or 7th.

Brandon Moore of the Jets had a good season. He's 33 but would be a nice stopgap, at least until Carp gets healthy or the Sweez/Moffitt develops.

I realize Breno is above average when he's playing well, but sebastian vollmer is pretty dang good... Should we consider sending in an offer for him?

Nah. Wouldn't want to waste a sizeable amount of cap on a RT. We can find cheaper options in the draft.
