Keep signing up y'all.

Looks like we're going to do positional scouts rather than regional ones.

Jennings yes. Woodson is due $10M and is getting cut because of it, but FFMD teams are never willing to admit that their players don't have value.

First Choice Position: Capologist
Second Choice Position: O-Line scout
Regional or Positional Scouts?: Positional

I'm intrigued by your Capologist plans...

The cap is starting to be a hobby of sorts lately, I'm willing to take it up if no one else wants in.

So we're making some nice headway, just a couple of discussion questions to get the ball rolling:

1. What do we think about Talib, Vollmer, Welker, and Edelman? Who do we try to keep? Who do we cut loose?

2. Is there anyone you especially want to go after on another team?

We can talk more privately about these players once we get a code up - until then we can chat in here.

Keep Talib unless he gets FFMD'd (ie. gets a 5 year/$100m contract) Vollmer will likely receive LT money on FFMD and I believe Welker will be severely underrated, at lot of people will out think themselves and believe he is a product of the system, so offer him a fair deal, but don't feel the need to overpay.

I have already stated my feelings on the who stays and who goes in the Talib thread, but will gladly repeat that sentiment. I feel it's best for us to let Wes walk and thank him for everything he's done in his 6 seasons with us, all marvelous ones. Talib is the one we focus on keeping as:

A) We have shown an inability to draft or develop CBs of Talibs ability since we let the likes of Asante go and Ty Law ride off into the sunset aka KC. Talib's ability made our whole secondary play better from the week he got here to the week he was injured(unfortunately the AFC Championship). It was night and day and earlier this season Tzimice actually posted defensive stats showing just how much our wholde defense played after Talib arrived. That young secondary didn't play scared. McCourty actually excelled at Safety, Dennard as a rookie did quite well as a the CB who was mostly matched up across Talib. We have shown in the past with guys like Butler, Whilhite, Wheatley, Dowling and so forth that we either have a deficiency in drafting or developing secondary. This is why we must at all reasonable cost keep the one
that changed our defense for the better.

B)Wes is or will be turning 32 very soon. He has had an amazing career with us here in New England with a few untimely drops but so many more huge moments and catches for us. We do not have the money allocated or set aside to keep our best CB or shut down guy and over pay Wes to stay here. Our offense is evolving away from using Welker the way we all became accustomed to seeing as shown by the first week of the season with Edelman playing his role and even before that with emphasis on the TE sets . Its much more beneficial for us imo to spend $$ on the one spot on the D we have not been able to in years and transition away from the short/slot game of Welker ball we so heavily relied on for years.

C)As evidence by McMurtry and NBT recently, and I agree (Cordarelle Patterson band wagon mate #2) we need a fast/explosive deep threat to compliment Lloyd and our amazing TEs and to keep those defenses honest. We have also started the transition away from Wes with our need and growing push for the RB that we need to use to control the T.O.P and again make those 3 threats we already have under contract (AHern, Gronk and Lloyd) more deadly.

Thanks

To answer your second question Rab, I don't think we have the $$ or roster spots beyond Talib and our other depth FAs as well as draft picks to vulture other teams. I mean I would love a Mike Wallace or Dwayne Bowe if we don't use the draft for that explosive down field threat but I know the price is too high. I would love a Melton, Red Bryant or Geno Atkins but also know we don't have the arm and legs teams will be demanding. Lock up Talib and were set imo. Vollmet will be vastly ovrr paid to be a LT on a team that desperately needs one and our OL will do what it does and step up. Put Cannon at RT.

No problem Razz.

I'm actually thinking that I'll get the official staff up sometime tonight. There doesn't seem to be a lot of overlap in terms of positions, anyway.

Wasn't it coined 'Chatzygate?' God, that was an interesting FFMD. Weren't we originally penalized a 1st Round Pick?
