EJ Manuel - Quarterback, Florida State
Senior
6'4''
237 lbs.
Strengths:
- Great size
- By far the most athletic Quarterback in this class
- Good speed, can take off and make game changing plays with his legs
- Very strong arm, can make every throw on the NFL level
- Evasive in the pocket
- He does have a pretty quick release
- Was said to be the most "coachable" QB at the Senior Bowl
Weaknesses:
- Throws off back foot too often
- Seems to panic when first read is gone
- Looks to run when scrambling instead of keeping eyes downfield
- Poor accuracy on anything beyond 10 yards
- Really needs to work on his decision making
- Needs tons of work on learning defenses and reading them correctly
- He doesn't look off safeties well, stares down his first read way too often
- Doesn't anticipate receivers coming open, throws to where they are instead of where they will be
Summary:
Manuel holds the highest "boom" potential in this draft, but also has a low floor. If he were to go in the NFL as a starter in his first year or even second year, he'd struggle mightily in my opinion. Has all the physical tools in the world to succeed; its just a matter of him drastically improving on the intellectual side of the game in order for him to become a starting caliber QB. Look for him to be overdrafted come April likely to a team who already has a starter in place and/or wants to run the spread option that seems to be taking a large role in the NFL.

Geno Smith - Quarterback, West Virginia
Senior
6'3''
214 lbs.
Strengths:
- Very mobile and able to evade pressure in the pocket
- Able to make plays outside the pocket with his legs
- Keeps his eyes downfield while scrambling and looks to pass first
- Steps up into the pocket well when pressured from edge
- Adept at anticipating receivers coming open
- Arm strength won't "wow" you but it is adequate to make most if not all NFL throws
- Works through his progressions well
Weaknesses:
- Took virtually every snap from shotgun; little experience under center
- Very inconsistent accuracy beyond 15 yards
- Offensive system at WV has inflated his statistics
- Needs to improve footwork
- Not a great deep ball thrower
- Lacks touch on throws requiring it
- Inconsistent with his delivery often throwing off back foot
Summary:
I'm not on the train that has Geno Smith as the top QB in this class. I saw him get shut down against the almighty Texas Tech Defense and also against K-state. In my personal experience watching him, he seems to let negative emotions effect his focus which snowballs into more mistakes. When things are going well, he thrives and is difficult to stop. He will be drafted in the first round, but my grades aren't projections, they are where I think the player grades out. I believe he will have a tough time adjusting to NFL defenses, but in the right offense and with the right coach, could be an average to slightly above average QB in the NFL.

Jwin, Ryan Nassib is on page 40 and Zac Dysert is on page 30 if you wouldn't mind adding them to the first page. _________________

Gracias. Still got Landry Jones and Tyler Bray to do for sure. Probably will do Matt Scott. Anyone else y'all want to see? _________________

I have our QB issues solved. I'm in deep talks with the 9ers for Alex Smith. _________________ R.I.P. Nikolas and Brian you will truly be missed.

Given that Wilber DID play DE in college. And since the Cowboys are considering him there, do we want to re-evaluate where we have him? _________________

Just going to throw this out there (I am actually against this)
But we can have Melton for our first this year and next. Which would still leave us with a first next year and this year. _________________
