What's his (Spears) contract situation look like? Do we save money if we cut him? If so, I think we have to let him go. |
On phone but I think we save 600k - 2m salary minus 2 700k signing bonus payments.
That being said cutting him is terrible - he has solid trade value and value to this team
I hate when people start talking about cutting people before we even try to trade them.... _________________

Spears has plenty of value, both to this team and as a potential trade chip to a team switching to the 3-4. I'm 100% with MH on this. I doubt we could get too much for him, but with his cap number, a late draft pick or rotational player is not out of the question.
Also, the Eagles already have five pages. We need to get going here. WHERE IS EVERYBODY _________________

And on that last note, I'm going to reveal myself as a hypocrite and be posting from my phone from here on out. JWIN, feel free to update your war room listing with some of the already formatted links I put up. _________________

Thanks MH. Who are some guys that would be worthwhile cuts/trades to save money? We have some work to do. |
Have the Cap spreadsheet updated and saved - I'll get the last column update tomorrow probably with the benefit of trading/cutting - headed to the Casino tonight _________________

Spears' cap hit would be $2m to a new team which is nothing - his value is ATLEAST a 5th and I think we can get a 4th. I had offers of that in my GM Mock Jrry and I just ran but I chose to keep him as a 1-tech in our 4-3. _________________

1. I am in favor of keep Spears.
2. I agree. NO ONE is cut unless we absolutely have to. Everyone is traded or kept until otherwise noted.

I agree that Spears needs to stay for now. At this time, we don't have a great fit at 1-tech. While Spears isn't the most talented or productive, he fits that mold better than anyone we have on the roster right now.
If in fact we could get a 4th round pick for him however, we have to jump on that faster than Matts on a midget stripper. Lets get 'er done! _________________
