|

|
Hi guys,
Some of you may remember a couple of years ago, I ran an 'Elimination' style tournament which culminated in Footballs Future selecting it's consensus 'Favorite Play Of The Year'
For those that don't remember, here's a link
With the season soon to be over, there's not going to me much to talk about on FF, so hopefully, this tournament can provide some discussion, some competition and provide some great memories, and perhaps show us some great plays that we missed too.
Anyway here's whats going to happen.
a) I will create a thread in each of the 32 NFL team's sub-forums, asking them to nominate a consensus 'Favorite Play' from their team.
b) Once I have collated all 32 sub-forums' nominations I will use a list randomizer to determine which teams will face each other in the tournament.
c) I will then create a thread in NFL General for each match-up, where the FF community can determine which play is their favorite until eventually we end up with 2 remaining plays,
OK, so now that's sorted. Let's get down to the fun part, time for the your sub forum to nominate their favorite play of the 2012 NFL season!
There is literally no criteria for selecting a favorite play. It could be an Offensive, Defensive or Special Teams play, the first play of the game, or the last play of the game or anything in between, it could come in a win, a loss (or a tie) it could be a scoring play, or a non scoring play.
You can select literally anything, in the 2010 tournament there was an OG returning a kick-off 70 yards, a Pick-6 by a Defensive End, Touchdown celebrations or trick plays by Punters. Literally anything!
Ah, there is one rule. You must post a video link (preferably to Youtube (those 30 second adverts on NFL.com are annoying after a while) or even better, post a GIF.
So go ahead guys, nominate your favorite play of the year!
I'll be back in a few days to see if you've come to a concensus nomination, if not, I will start a Run-Off thread between the 2 or 3 most popular selections until we have a winner!
Thanks. _________________

I know 4th and 28 will get a lot of support but this is my pick:

Well... pending the superbowl I think it's definitely between these two for us:
1) Hey Diddle Diddle, Ray Rice Up the Middle

2) The F Bomb

If anyone else has another, you can put it out there. I'm going to have to take a little to think about this one. Obviously depends on what happens next weekend as well. _________________

I think this GIF shows very well why it WAS a good throw by Flacco. You see the ball coming down at a much more vertical angle than many other QB's would be able to get. _________________

Definitely one of these two.
But, it won't matter, it'll lose early in the tournament because the "Hey Diddle Diddle" play could have been done by nearly any RB in the league and was really more due to defensive ineptitude, and the "F Bomb" (I like that name) was a throw any QB could have made, it was just thanks to an inept Rahim Moore. _________________

Well since 4th and 28 could've been made by any RB in the league, and JJ's 70 yard reception was a terrible throw, I don't know what to choose!
I'll go with F Bomb _________________

What about Torrey's first TD against NE in Wk 3? Sure its more for the emotional aspect behind it, but its probably worth mentioning _________________

| I was thinking about Jones' punt return TD against the Steelers or Koch's TD run (for the lulz) as alternatives but the two I listed above are the only ones I believe could win the contest. Smith's TD against New England is a good one that I didn't remember. |

The Mile High Miracle/F-Bomb/Rocky Mountain Miracle... yeah.. that one. But that's simply because of the stakes. We don't convert that pass, we aren't in the Super Bowl right now...
But if this is simply a 'regular season' thing, then it's definitely the 'diddle diddle'- heck everyone knows that name of that play. And if its simply which was the 'better' play, I think its that one. But there's no question that when adding up the stakes, the awesomeness of the play, and the skill involved... the F-Bomb just edges out the diddle-diddle, but honestly... I think we should have both plays in contention.. because I have a hard time believing that their are 30 better plays than those two... well, unless you're the common FF poster that thinks anything the Ravens do amazing is the result of poor defense, that is. _________________

| Pollard's hit on Ridley is my favorite play of the year. It just felt so good to bully the Pats and that hit was sorta like the hit that guy that will go unnamed put on the other guy that fumbled all the time (mcgahee) in the 09 AFC Championship loss to that team we HATE. For me it was like everything went full circle at that moment we had finally exorcised our demons and their season was over. Man when he hit dude I lost it, I immediately started impersonating Kevin hart "wanna go night night ridley. who wanna go night night. u aint gotta be sleepy to go night night ridley" lol. I was turnt up wit capital T lol. |
