"Bills Chris Kelsay had his best season while Sanders was his outside linebackers coach in 2010. Sanders brought Nick Barnett over from the Packers in 2011 and Barnett had a resurgence with a move to weakside linebacker. He tied a career high with three interceptions and had his best tackling numbers since 2007. He continued to post great tackling numbers last season.
He was the defensive coordinator in Green Bay for three seasons from 2006-08. In his first season at the position, the Packers defense was near the bottom in the rankings and they missed the playoffs. His final season in 2008 was much the same. But in between, he led the Packers to a top ten ranked defense and a playoff berth with a 13-3 record. It was Favre's final season in Green Bay and they beat the Seahawks en route to the NFC Championship game before falling to the Giants 23-20.
The Florida Gators won the SEC Championship in his final season there before the Dolphins came calling and he took over as their linebackers coach.
When Bob Sanders came to the Dolphins, Zack Thomas immediately had the best tackling numbers since his rookie season. In fact, Sanders' first three seasons in Miami were three of the best seasons Thomas had as a pro. He made the Pro Bowl in three straight seasons and two of his five career All Pro nods came under Sanders."

Well there is the Green Bay tie in. So it looks like Reggie may be a bit more involved because I don't see too many links to DA with this hire. As long as the young guys get better under him that's pretty much all that matters. Especially if we bring in another rookie or two at the position.
I wonder if we are going to go with a MLB coach and an OLB coach? _________________

Yeah, this one I will say looks more like a McKenzie influenced hire. _________________

No one has mentioned this yet, but all of the teams Bob Sanders coached on were 3-4 defenses.
I wonder if we are trying to switch to a 3-4, something Tarver & Allen wanted last season IIRC before rolling with the 4-3 because of personnel. There is a good amount of 3-4 LB's in this draft as well. _________________

I don't know about the other teams but Buffalo was running a 4-3 last year and GB was a 4-3 team as well when he was their DC. _________________

Good catch.
Regardless, I think if we did want to switch, we would have a good opportunity this off season to do so. I'm curious as to what their plan is because it obviously makes a difference in the type of players they go after. _________________

And if you can coach one scheme you can coach the other. Your focus is just on different looks and keys. But there is not really too much difference on a skill level for the position coaches. _________________
