Hopefully with the 3rd rounder, another safety as well.
Vaccaro? Rambo? Maybe one will slide that low. |

I think well get our 2nd rounder back. Maybe Matt Elam or Eric Reid? _________________

Fire Fewell. Bring back Spags. Our defense will be good again. |
The problem is that Fewell is not flexible enough. When we are healthy and is able to use that 3 safety set then our defense looks good but when we're banged up(which is always the case) we're pathetic to the say the least. This defense's motto is "not to give up the big play", "make the corners play off", "let anything go underneath", yet we lead the league in giving up the big play. Makes no sense whatsoever. _________________

We don't want him. Sean Payton has nothing to do with him anymore. |

I think switching to the 3-4 is a positive for the Saints and I think they will make a smooth transition. The defense really cant get any worse than last year.
Considering that this year's draft is stacked with 3-4 prospects, they will find the pieces they need fairly easily.
DE Hicks
NT Bunkley
DE Jordan
OLB ?
ILB Hawthorne
ILB Lofton
OLB Wilson
Really, the Saints have all the pieces outside of a premier rush OLB. Of course depth is usually a major issue when switching schemes. I expect the Saints to grab a round 1 pass rusher, followed with lots of 3-4 DL depth. |

Junion Gallette at OLB with Martez Wilson. the guy is built to be a 3-4 OLB. I think even more than Wilson. He has stud rusher written all over him. _________________

Didn't the Texans switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 the past couple of years? If the Saints can lucky and have a defense anything remotely like that, that would be scary indeed. |
Even with the switch, taking Spags out of the defense automatically upgrades their defense as long as his eventual replacement can make some kind of in game adjustments.
That guy was just in right spot at the right time with the Giants.
Edit: Saints fans what do you guys predict your front 7 to look like so far? Can your DEs play OLB? |
With no acquisitions this is likely the starting lineup
DE Cameron Jordan and Akiem Hicks
NT Brodick Bunkley
OLB Junior Galette and Martez Wilson
ILB Curtis Lofton and David Hawthorne
CB Jabari Greer and Patrick Robinson
SS Roman Harper
FS Malcolm Jenkins |
Is Jordan big enough to play 34 DE? |
He played 3-4 DE in college and many people thought he would excel at it in the NFL, he's not a great it at 3-4 DE and I honestly see him cracking the top 5 3-4 DE list by the end of next year. He'll probably bulk up a bit and be around 300 pounds to start next year. |
I don't think Jordan will pass any of Watt, Smith, Ngata, Campbell, Wilk, or Liuget in the next season. Loved him in the draft as one though _________________

That's a tough list to crack.
JJ Watt, Justin Smith, Calais Campbell, Ngata, Mcdonald, Antonio Smith, corey liuget. It will take a phenomenal season. _________________
