What's the history of teams switching philsophies defensively? Drew Brees isn't getting any younger. Can they stand to waste a year while the defense gets the right players?

Didn't the Texans switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 the past couple of years? If the Saints can lucky and have a defense anything remotely like that, that would be scary indeed.

We have more 3-4 personnel than 4-3 honestly. Hicks as Jordan played 3-4 DE in college, Junior Gallette played 3-4 OLB in college and Martez Wilson has the body and athleticism too play OLB. It's not like the defense could get any worse.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Vilma wanting out soon. He was traded after the Jets switched.

Even with the switch, taking Spags out of the defense automatically upgrades their defense as long as his eventual replacement can make some kind of in game adjustments.

That guy was just in right spot at the right time with the Giants.

Edit: Saints fans what do you guys predict your front 7 to look like so far? Can your DEs play OLB?

Wanting out? LOL, he should be begging to stay. He unfortunately isn't a good player anymore and he's vastly overpaid. He's likely going to get cut.

I'm surprised he wasn't fired sooner. He literally led the worst (yardage) defense in NFL history, by quite a bit.

With no acquisitions this is likely the starting lineup
DE Cameron Jordan and Akiem Hicks
NT Brodick Bunkley
OLB Junior Galette and Martez Wilson
ILB Curtis Lofton and David Hawthorne
CB Jabari Greer and Patrick Robinson
SS Roman Harper
FS Malcolm Jenkins

Is Jordan big enough to play 34 DE?

Well, with Ryan off the market to the Rams, that leaves Crennel.

I don't know any other names after him.

He played 3-4 DE in college and many people thought he would excel at it in the NFL, he's not a great it at 3-4 DE and I honestly see him cracking the top 5 3-4 DE list by the end of next year. He'll probably bulk up a bit and be around 300 pounds to start next year.

year one might be difficult, but this is a good move by Nawlins.

The offense can't do it all by itself.

Give us Dion Jordan at 15 and Jelani Jenkins in the 4th and I'll die a happy man.
