That could be a decent defensive line allignment if they run the one gap. I said before the draft Cameron Jordan's best fit was as a one gap DE in a 34.

Doesnt look good for a 2 gap, though.

I dont like the LBs, regardless of what version they run with.

Martez Wilson IMO should be in the middle as a thumper next to Curtis Lofton. That could be beastly.

They need to find a better group of OLBs though. Anthony Spencer will likely be a free agent. They should target him IMO.

Spencer or Connor Barwin in this lineup would be a quick, effective pickup that would make this work. Wilson/Lofton/Hawthorne in an ILB rotation, Barwin or Spencer along with Galette on the outside - you have some meat in the middle, thumpers who can play some coverage, along with a big outside edge threat.

It can work. Will it? I don't know, will need to see how FA works out.

The 4-3 to 3-4 switch is a bit overblown by many, IMO - the Texans were facing this going into the 2011 season (a season in which teams didn't have a full TC to teach fundamentals of a new system, mind you). The Texans made a decision to play the 6' 6" 290 Mario Williams an OLB, moved Barwin to the OLB role, moved Brian Cushing to an ILB role drafted JJ Watt to man the 5-Tech, Brooks Reed to come off the bench as an OLB - and that turned the Texans D from the 32nd ranked D in 2010 to the 2nd ranked D in 2011, and still widely regarded as a top 10 unit. Sure, some fan faves were lost in the transition (DeMeco Ryans was washed out in the 3-4 role) but net/net, it was a smashing success.

It can happen, and the whole "right personnel" isn't what is going to spur it to happening. It takes a smart, tenured DC who knows what each player brings to the table, as well as how to tap into that talent.
