I didn't punch the numbers for contracts, but I tried to make it as realistic as I could.
Players Leaving:
QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson
HB Matt Asiata
WR Michael Jenkins
WR Devin Aromashodu
WR Stephen Burton
OC Joe Berger
OT Troy Kropog
LB Jasper Brinkley
CB Brandon Burton
S Andrew Sendejo
Players Resigning:
FB Jerome Felton -- 3 year
OG Geoff Schwartz -- 1 year
OT Phil Loadholt -- 4 years
WR Jerome Simpson -- 1 year
LB Marvin Mitchell -- 2 years
LB Erin Henderson -- 3 years (offers the ability to play any LBer position)
CB AJ Jefferson -- RoFR Tender
S Jamarca Sanford -- 1 year
Players Extended/Restructured:
WR Percy Harvin (Extended)
OT Charlie Johnson (Restructured)
DE Jared Allen (Extended)
DT Kevin Williams (Restructured)
Free Agents:
QB-Drew Stanton - 2 years - 28yrs, 6' 3", 230 lbs
A good number two QB who can be relied on to come in and manage games if Ponder goes down.
WR-Mohamed Massaquoi - 1 year - 26 yrs, 6'2", 207 lbs
With so many questions about all of the top tier WRs the Vikings decide that none are worth the money that they will demand. Massaquoi is brought in because of his size and potential to be a good red zone receiver. He didn't see very many targets in Cleveland, but is a very good option for a #2 or #3 receiver.
MLB-Jon Beason - 5 years - 28 yrs, 6', 240 lbs
Our defense has been in need of a quality MLB for years. EJ Henderson was good, but he was a liability in coverage. Beason has injury concerns, but we are fortunate that the Panthers have a surplus of quality LB's and need to fix their salary cap. He is capable of playing any LB position. He is easily a top 10 LB when healthy and his coverage ability will transform our defense. Injury issues should not be an issue, but rather two unfortunate seasons.
FS-Kenny Phillips - 4 years - 26 yrs, 6' 2", 217 lbs A starting quality safety, but signs for a reasonable amount because of the number of safeties entering free agency this year.
NFL Draft:
Trade: The Cardinals trade up to get a QB giving their 2nd, 3rd, and 7th for the Vikings 1st.
2. Justin Hunter - WR - Tennessee
21 yrs, 6' 4", 205 lbs
2. Larry Warford - OG - Kentucky
22 yrs, 6' 3", 336 lbs
Trade: The Vikings trade up back into the bottom of the 2nd with the Texans giving up a 3rd (from AZ), a 4th, a 6th, and a 7th (from AZ).
2. Sylvester Williams - DT - UNC
22 yrs, 6' 3", 305 lbs
3. Marcus Lattimore - HB - South Carolina
21 yrs, 6', 232 lbs
5. Marcus Davis - WR - Virginia Tech
23 yrs, 6'4", 232 lbs
7. BPA

| I like it. Love the Beason pick up, I feel Hunter could be there still in the early 2nd. Not sure about Warford he seems to rising. My one knock is that outside of Phillips nothing was done to address the secondary. |

This is the 2nd time I've seen Troy Smith's name come up. Do we realize that he hasn't actually played in the NFL or even gone through a training camp in 3 years? There are probably dozens of QBs that would be better options than him. _________________

| Love the Beason Signing as well. Not a fan of Troy Smith or Massaquoi we might s well keep Devin Aromashodu or Michael Jenkins they are all identical at least Devin and Mike already know the system. Liked the draft would love to see the 7th BPA you left blank be S Shamarko Thomas Syracuse |

Yeah, I didn't realize that it has been that long. After reading more about him recently I decided to change the signing. _________________

I stop reading every time I see Erin Henderson re-signed over Jasper Brinkley. _________________

Erin Henderson is the more valuable of the two. He is younger, has better size, and is more versatile with the ability to play OLB or ILB. He isn't as big of a liability in coverage as Brinkley. Henderson is the better player, that's why he was put at MLB for nickel packages and by the end of the season was playing 64 snaps to Brinkley's 14. He offers the ability to back up any of the LB positions. With the Beason signing there isn't room on the roster for Brinkley. Yes Henderson will be more expensive than Brinkley, but Brinkley wouldn't be starting on this roster and would only be able to backup one position. _________________

Lattimore in the 3rd seems like a wasted pick. I'd much rather have a guy that is healthy at a position of need. _________________

| While I would love to see Beason on this team, it just seems very unrealistic that the Panthers would let him go. He is still so young and signed a huge contract a year and a half ago that still has 4 years left on it. |

Beason would cost the Panthers 3.75 mil to cut. Saving them about 1.5 mil. _________________ Gnat's Movie Reviews

Give me a CB like Jamar Taylor outta Boise State or even a LB to groom to take over for Henderson next year. Im ok with Henderson as a stop gap since Beason would be the coverage LB on passing downs.
Heck id even take a QB over Lattimore in the 3rd. _________________ AD is hotter than Madonna in a pointy bra!!! |

I like a lot of it. The thing that stands out to me is getting rid of Bethel-Thompson and keeping Webb. Just wondering what your thought process is on that? _________________ To give anything less than your best is to sacrific the gift - Steve Prefontaine |

I'm starting to warm up to Justin Hunter again. Especially if we keep Harvin and add another vet. With all those weapons, Hunter would see a lot of single coverage which would help ease him into the NFL. _________________
