I'm not going to count this one out yet. There are some big "IFs" tied to this, too many to count - but if he were to get to most of them, he had some natural gifts you couldn't teach, such as beyond-elite arm strength. Warren Sapp once said that Russell could throw a strawberry through a battleship, guy had a rail gun for an arm.
The arm will get folks to notice, but it's the least of his concerns if he's going to make this happen. He's got a lot of work to do. _________________

The arm is all he had though. His accuracy was always poor, his mechanics were always poor, he was always a lazy person, never showed much in terms of leadership, he did have a little athleticism for a guy his size, but overall there wasn't much to translate into a winning QB. I really boggled my mind how no one could really look beyond his arm strength to the person/player he was. This goes for professional scouts also. To me, it was clear as day.
Hell, if you watch most of his highlight videos from LSU, all he did was throw jump balls to Bowe, Lafell, and Davis and take advantage of poor defense.

I never said there weren't a lot of "IFs" tied to this one. There are. _________________

If there was a deveolpmental league like NFL Europe used to be, I bet there'd be more interest. I wouldn't use a roster spot on him. _________________

At 308 lbs, good luck making an NFL roster as anything but a lineman! _________________

Wish him the best, he had elite arm strength but I didn't see much else in him outside of his athletic abilities. He is likely inspired by the emergence of more athletic QB's in the NFL. I don't think he is going to end up anywhere but I hope he proves me wrong. It would make a nice story. _________________

This. I'll be rooting for him, he will probably be a 3rd stringer at best MAYBE a 2nd if he's lucky and when he gets his chance he need a diet. Oh, and take advantage of the opportunity
Now, We need a "Who'd you rather Thread" Tebow or Russell _________________

That reminds me of the Russell vs. Flacco thread a while back. Good times.
As for his return, I don't see it. Although I'd actually welcome at. 80 yards from his knees! _________________

Did anyone else hear that story where the Raiders gave Russell a blank CD and they told him it had the playbook on it, and they asked him if he studied it and he said yes. _________________
