Yeah… I'm pretty zeroed in on Star Lotulelei at this point. Combination of Star Lotulelei and Fletcher Cox would dominate the point of attack for years to come. _________________

So...we are definitely keeping a 4-3? I'd love to have Fletcher Cox and Kawann Short next to each other. _________________

How will you feel when Stars arms only measure 32.5 inches? _________________

Arm length may be a good indicator of line play on both sides of the ball, but IMO it's not the end all of a prospect's value. Sure it's nice to have HOF credentials in that category, but it can be over come.
And I won't lie that Star may be over rated by some, but I think he could make an impact in the NFL in his rookie season. Placing him next to Cox and Jenkins/Thornton would make us stout against the run (in the event of the odd man front).
EDIT: btw, are you 100% positive his arms will measure 32.5 inches? Just curious. _________________

No, that's a rough guess. It's hard to tell if he has long arms or not, but I don't think it's that important for a DT since they are going up against the C or Guard. I just don't really care for a run specialist in the top 5. Star is good, but he's not going to be Suh, Geno Atkins, or even Fletcher Cox vs the pass as far as getting sacks goes. I'd prefer trading back and taking Kawann Short because he can stop the run and get to the qb. He just needs better conditioning like Fletcher did coming out and he can be a 3 down terror. I think he compares to a blend of Sedrick Ellis and Nick Fairley as a prospect based on talent. If he pushes himself to be great he will at the very least be good.
If we really want to be stout vs the run, we'll need stout LB's and better edge contain from our DE's. And some safeties who can tackle wouldn't hurt either. Or just people who can tackle in general. We lost our Juandamentals somewhere along the way. _________________

Getting a NT in the top of the 2nd would be better for building the team, especially considering this is a deep class at the position up top. Although, there's a good chance Star might be gone at #4 anyway.
We do need a bunch of pieces to complete the defense, and a true all-pro caliber player would be ideal in the top 5. This year may not have one of those players in that area, unfortunately for us. But the one thing I like is, if our front 3 can eat eat up multiple blockers, the table can be set for our LBs and Safeties to clean up in the run. That does hinge on us getting guys who can actually tackle, but that formula sounds good to me.
I literally can't wrap my brain around who I love the most for our top pick. Clearly trading down is much easier said than done, so I almost have to leave that out of the equation. Will it be a Star Lotulelei or Jarvis Jones or Dion Jordan? Will it be a Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher? Will it be a Demontre Moore or Bark Mingo or Bjoern Werner? Who would make the most impact for us for years to come? It's a tough call at this point in time, so hopefully the combine can help to shed some light on that inquiry (although you can't discount game tape even with a good or bad combine showing). I do know, however, that I don't want Dee Milliner or Eugene Smith at #4. That much is for sure, just to me of course. _________________
