1 - If you don't want me to vote in the poll I won't.
2 - I might still slide in here and there and drop my thoughts.
3 - I like Earl here.
His range in coverage as a deep third player really allows Seattle as a defense to play to their strengths, it allows them to play Man-Trail tech on the outside with their two big powerful corners. It also, arguably more importantly, allows Kam to excel in his role closer to the LOS.
You put a player of lessor ability back there in that role instead of Earl and not only does it make it harder to allow Kam to play his role it also makes it harder to play the press-man coverage that is predominant in what Seattle want to do.
I respect what Lynch does on that team, but I feel that Earl is more important to the overall make up of what Seattle does in its coverage looks which in turn impact how they defend the run (8th man in box). _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Dangeruss is sliding in at the 6 spot for me probably |
I say Earl is better imo | Than Sherm? Yeah, I do to. But Sherm had the better season so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. _________________

Top 7 might be easier, it is for me with this team. _________________

I think Earl is better than Sherm and Okung. I really hope we can sign Earl and Sherm long term _________________ Go Hawks!

Beast Mode
He is the offensive identity at this point. Even when he wasn't running at his best, teams still had to account for him. _________________

So then your criteria is grading them vs. the other players who play their position in the NFL?
My criteria simply has to do with how does our team look with them out of the lineup.
In my opinion our team is hurt most by having Sherman out (even though he's never really been out since starting)..Followed by Earl Thomas..Followed by Lynch, Wilson and Okung.
1)Sherm
2) Earl
3) Lynch
4) Wilson
5) Okung
If you take Mebane out, our team can plug in serviceable guys Scruggs, McDonald, ect.. You take Wilson out, and our team has Flynn who cannot run the component of our offense that makes it the most dangerous (read option). Look at offense pre- Miami vs post.
If you take Sherm out, they pass on us all day...if you take Earl out, they pass and run on us all day. If you take Lynch out we lose a large dynamic of our running game, if you take Mebane out, we would still be okay. _________________

What you're doing is rating our most valuable players, not our best. But do it however you like _________________

I remember this time last year I argued that Sherman was the better player over Earl Thomas. Glad to see another year of proof has moved the masses over

Well we were ranked dead last in YPC against in the 2nd half of the season so I don't know how much worse it could get with Bane out. _________________

If Earl gets over the dropsies like he did towards the latter half of the year, he jumps ahead of Sherm again. Even Sherm is not truly on island a lot of times, and that is because of Earl. Earl's range deep is second to none. _________________
