Which option would people prefer
FA:
OG Andy Levitre
Draft:
1[20] OT Lane Johnson [OU]
or
FA:
OT Jermon Bushrod
Draft:
1[20] OG Jonathan Cooper [UNC]
or
2[51] OG D.J Fluker [Alabama] _________________

Even if Bushrod costs the same or more than Levitre? _________________

Seems to be lots of positive buzz around Lane Johnson today from Draft Countdown. _________________

Even if Bushrod costs the same or more than Levitre? | It depends on how much each would get. I definitely think Levitre is the better player. I'm just not 100% sold on Johnson at #20. This week will be big for him. |

I feel the same way about Fluker and really want to see him.
I want free agency to happen already it makes it so much easier to figure out what is going on in the draft.
I wonder if this line would work
LT: Webb
LG: Fluker
C: Levitre
RG: Louis
RT: Scott
We would be weak at OT but so strong up the middle. _________________

Sign LeVitre, draft Eifert (or Johnson if Eifert gone), sign Daryl Smith.
Webb
LeVitre
Garza
Louis
Carimi/Scott
I'd be comfortable with 4/5ths of the line, looking to address C and RT in the second round if BPA or next year. _________________

Of your options I'd take the second one. Bushrod is only solid but he would also make LT not at all a need for several years. He doesn't have to be the second coming of Munoz to be a great signing. I agree he may get overpaid but that's what you get when you draft poorly at the position. Also, I'd put Cooper would only play center for me. Getting a top center is far harder than getting good guard play IMO. _________________

I know that what Windy is thinking is you can play him at LG this year and keep Garza at Center for now, whereas I say "f that". If I draft Cooper I'll figure out a plan at LG whether that be Carimi or somebody else, but I'm playing the best guy at his natural position. _________________

Because of the calf injury it does not look like D.J Fluker will be practicing or participating which sucks.
Cooper is an OG and I agree I like him at C, but we need to make sure he can do it at the NFL level. _________________

So my take from the first day (really limited)
1. Eric Fisher is the real deal at LT, I don't know if we can get him or not, but I definitely want him. Here's hoping LTs drop in the draft again this year.
2. Markus Wheaton is as quick as they come. He's another Percy Harvin/Randall Cobb type weapon ready to be utilized.
3. Pugh did not have a good day, he got routinely beat around the corner.
4. Kyle Long is a guy I'm keeping a real close eye on. He certainly looks the part. I'm interested to see how quickly he adjusts this week.
5. Alex Okafor can rush the QB. Only guy yesterday to make Fisher even put up a fight. Real good battle between those 2.
6. Desmond Trufant and Jared Poyer are the best Dbs on the North team. They react quickly and have the technique to play either press or off man. _________________

Even with his short arms? ...
Poyer is a guy I really like for us…if Emery does go with BPA and we have added significantly on the Oline in FA & the 1st round he would be a fantastic pick up in the 2nd round...I think he is a #1 CB in the NFL. |

I think Long looked best at OG and is an interesting prospect in the 2nd round because he is big and he can pass block.
He moves really well. _________________
