He should try one more year. The falcons are definitely on the up-&-up and if they win it all next year he's going to feel terrible.
I could see Atlanta cutting a fringe player just to have him on for the playoffs next season.

is that really fair though? Id be pissed if i was that player that lost his chance at a ring while someone sat out the whole year

you'd have every right to be pissed, but I don't know how much teams care about fringe players feelings.

The guy would still get a ring too.

that said, Tony probably would be rusty after sitting out a whole year, and it would make more sense to just give him a ring, without signing him for the playoffs.

I'm not sure he would really care about getting a ring out of pity.

Tony or the fringe guy?

Tony's ring wouldn't be out of pity. The fringe guy's ring would be, but that was my point. Franchises don't really care about fringe guys. They'll cut guys or let them walk in FA like it's nothing. If he doesn't want the pity ring, he doesn't have to take it, but why should the franchise care?

I can't tell if you're laughing because it's true and funny, or laughing because you don't think it's true.

I'm sure the team would give a fringe guy a ring if he'd been a part of the team for any significant amount of time. Teams really aren't all that stingy with rings, they're pretty generous with them actually.
