Likely nothing more than training camp competition. Dorsey does have a connection with Muir as he originally came into the league in 2007 with the Packers as an undrafted free agent.

There's something to be said for playoff experience and Muir has some. He's started in all four postseason games he’s appeared in, recording 16 tackles (11 solo) and 1.0 sack (-5.0 yards), including starting Super Bowl XLIV against New Orleans, while with the Colts (2010).
The Lanham, MD native was a four-year letterman at Kent State (2003-06), playing in 46 games with 45 starts, totaling 198-career tackles, including 35 for loss, 14.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.

I didn't see any contract details. I would imagine it is for the 2013 league minimum (4 to 6 years experience) at $715,000.00

Hey, someone read the CBA.
But I think you're right with your assumption ... veteran minimum is what future contracts are signed for .. well, may be a 4 digit signing bonus.

And I'm still not used to seeing Dorsey and not thinking Glenn.

I think it's probably safe to say Muir isn't coming in with a roster spot gauranteed like Vrabel. Plus it isn't like Muir was a long term impact player or had any leadership role with the Packers. His biggest impact in the league came when he joined the Colts. I think this is more about adding some bodies for competition.

If I didn't know any better, I would almost think the Pioli supporter in you is trying to come back for some reason! It's ok if you are just trying to get it out of your system, but I wouldn't try to make too many nostalgic parallels.
