Babich was tried at DC in Chicago a couple years back and seemingly didn't do well. Perhaps since it has some of Bradley's stuff he'll do well. Meh.

| Bradley better call the plays. In the 30ish years that I've followed the Bears, Bob Babich was unquestionably the worst play caller they've had on that side of the ball. |

Babich was no good here, but he was a very good LB coach.
My guess is, Gus Bradley is a fairly young guy, he will probably call the plays with Babich just coaching up the D. Good move IMO, just having a coach who has worked with 2 HOF LB's in the locker room for a young defense is a good move.

I'd take a wait and see approach. Great teacher, and there is probably no better LB coach in the NFL. He's had a big part in gameplanning for a while as one of Lovie's trusted voices. And truth be told, he DC'd a legit top 7 defense that ended up ranked 21st b/c of a ridiculous # of snaps played (nearly double the league avg). What you got is a good football mind, a guy who knows how to mix tampa 2 w/ other schemes (we played the lowest % of tampa 2 under Babich of Lovie's entire tenure) and a guy who his players swear by. I'll be interested to see how he does w/o the expectations of being the Bears DC. Oh, but you will HATE preseason b/c it will be as vanilla a defense as you can possibly imagine.
