Awesome. This is a good hire. Tucker is well respected in NFL circles and ran a similar scheme in JAX. Trestman is quietly putting together a great staff.

I wonder if they are going to move Hoke to LBs and promote Byrd to DB Coach?

Good point from Jensen...

Quote:
Underrated element of Marc Trestman's staff: Nice mix of experience and youth so far. Tucker & Kromer were interim NFL head coaches

Granted, neither Kromer nor Tucker did very well. But that experience is a nod to their coaching ability and their potential.

I think is just his facial expressions. Looked up a couple interviews of him and seems like a normal guy.

Yeah of course…he will be a balanced personality like Trestman…smart but also intense…I really like the staff we are putting together…just waiting for news on who is going to be named Oline coach to assist with Kromer.

From a Jags site:

Quote:
Then came defensive coordinator Mel Tucker and his vanilla 4-3.
A vanilla 4-3 is majorly different from a 4-3 that uses its linebackers to blitz gaps between defensive tackles and defensive ends or other scheming to change matchups, create mismatches, and find advantages. Tucker’s version relies on strong play from his defensive personnel. His defense is reliant on strong pressure from the front four (defensive tackles and defensive ends) that free up the linebackers and secondary to make plays either due to good containment or a good pass rush.

+1 for continuity.

From ESPN:

Quote:
Think Lovie Smith with way, way, way more edge.

+1 for being a bad [inappropriate/removed].

We're gonna have a new smart, innovative offense, with our good ol' Bears defense, with a touch of extra BA. I'm thinking (hoping) we'll be like a Pats-49ers hybrid.[/quote]

I believe that Biggs said that Trestman asked Pat Mayers to take that position, but Mayers is waiting to see if he gets the Alouette's HC position first.

Happy to hear this, I'm getting real excited about next season already. Can't wait to see how the rest of the offseason unfolds.

This is a phenomenal hire by Trestman and shows that he wants to work with the best.

-Tucker was an interim head coach with the Jags and that makes 2 guys on the staff with HC experience.

-Tucker is as respected a DC as there is in the league and has had multiple HC interviews.

-Tucker runs a very vanilla 4-3 that will be what our players are use too.

-He has had decent defenses despite having limited talent and an offense that does NOTHING.

Trestman needs a guy who can come in and run the defense and call the plays and Tucker has done that in the league.

On the Lovie Smith staffs there was always washed up HC on Trestman's he has potential future HC [Tucker, Kromer] I love that he is surrounding himself with the best and the brightest.

Hopefully he changes his " vanilla " style defense a little bit and blitzes, I don't want to see the same ol' cover 2 crap get lit up like a Christmas tree against good offenses that slant the crap out of the cover 2 into oblivion. I guess you could say I am disappointed with this hire, unless he changes his philosophy some.

We have already established that this is simply untrue.
