He was bashed by 90% of the posters here for hiring a quote "puppet offensive coordinator" in Mike Miller and now Arians is hiring an offensive coordinator who isn't that. He's nothing. I like that we're going to have a bunch of eyes and ears on the offensive line, I love it in fact but the offensive coordinator position is so much more than that. Hiring Harold Goodwin for that position is just sickening. He's got no background, no qualifications and no reason to be in that title.
All this does it make me further question why we fired Ken Whisenhunt. |
My thoughts 100%. You want more eyes on the OL. Hire two or three OL coaches, there is no limit on the number you can hire. Just don't give one the OC title and run with it.
This really, really stinks. Our coaching staff is going backwards in leaps and bounds right now. We have let go of two of the best positional coaches in the business in Ron Aiken and Louie Cioffi, and for what? _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

LOL and as you mentioned, people were trashing Ray for his reported staff. What a joke. |
And at the same time we have let go of Cioffi, Raich and Aiken. For what. There are very, very few guys out there that have proven themselves to the level of Ron and Louie and Matt, from what I can remember from you buddy, has been highly thought about internally. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

And this explains how he could say that the coaching staff would be in place by Sunday!. It's a lot easier to do something like that when the guys you had in mind had no real other possible offers from any program of significance. He's bringing in stop-gaps. I'm expecting a shuffling of the deck so to speak after next season. _________________

So we hired your old ST coach (didn't know where else to put it). Good or bad? _________________

He took what should have been a top[ 3 STs unit and got it to play like a bottom 3 unit. Penalties were constant. As in, 2-3 per game. Every game.
One of the only coaching moves we've made this week that I fully endorse. _________________

Ah crap. Could he at least have good blocking schemes for punts? _________________

Watch Peterson return punts this year. You'll get a resounding "NO". _________________

Well I meant more can he prevent blocks since I'm sure SciFi would like that for once. _________________

If I'm alone in this that's fine but I'm kind of excited about Todd Bowles. I think he's a quality coach. _________________

What happened to Todd Bowles in the eyes of many FFers? I don't remember many, if any, that didn't want Bowles two years ago instead of Ray Horton, now because of half a season as a DC who tried to change schemes mid season on a team that had already quit no one wants him??? He was a very good DBs coach in Miami and Dallas and since he has left them you didn't see the same standard of play from their DBs in either situation. _________________

Mike Jurecki @mikejurecki
Hearing both coordinators OC Harold Goodwin DC Todd Bowles have agreed to join the Cards, Darryl Drake (Bears) will be the WR coach. #cards _________________

I'm right with you. The stint at the Eagles shouldn't sour anyone on the fact that Bowles is a very good coach who will continue to get the most out of this defense. _________________
