Hah, that's the first thing I thought of, too. Their AD (her name escapes me) nearly got crucified by the alumni after that farce of a search, but it all worked out pretty well.. assuming Graham doesn't jump ship within the next year or two.
They even lost the assistant-coach-the-players-loved-and-everybody-wanted-to-see-become-head-coach in Mazzone. Hopefully Horton doesn't follow his lead and go to a divisional rival, though.

So for in this Arians press conference we are hearing the EXACT same thing that Ken Whisenhunt said repeatedly.
Run the ball get chunks of yardage.
Disciplined, Fast, Football.
Attacking, Aggressive defense. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Loved Kent Somers' question about Ray Horton to Arians..
Arians was left out on an island there trying to scramble for an answer. |

For those of us that aren't watching, what was it? |

Arians reiterating that he will call all of the offensive plays. _________________

Basically asked why Ray was not in his plans as DC. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Basically, and this isn't at all a quote, but: "Uh, well I just felt it was right to go a new direction, wanted to bring in my staff, we [Keim, Michael, etc] discussed this during the process, and I felt this is what was right"
Urban tweets:
Arians on Horton: Didn't feel at this point, keeping Horton was how he wanted his staff. "It needed to be a football team directed by me."
Arians said he didn't want to put Horton in a bad position as a holdover if a player had an issue. |

I don't expect ANY change schematically on offense. That has me really, really worried. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

We're back in the exact same boat we were before Black Monday: it's all about personnel now. |

The only real change, IMO, will be an even more vertical passing game. Even more down the field stuff. Other than that, the same.
Arians said all the right things in this one but that's just being media savvy. Saying and doing are 2 different things.
Arians does seem like a good guy though, I can't deny that. _________________

Arians said he's coming in with no preconceived notions as to our current QB personnel and that he'll give them each a fair look. He wouldn't rule out any changes. _________________

We already were. Again, Horton's base defense wasn't the 3-4, it was the nickel.
The defense Bowles runs is not much different than what Horton ran formation wise. It's the playcalling and philosophies that will differ. _________________

I wonder if we're going to need a WR burner now ala Mike Wallace / Torrey Smith. I like our receivers, but I'm not sure if any of them is fast enough to be the deep vertical threat we're going to need - could Andre fill that role? |

Andre's a mid 4.4 40 guy, he should work. _________________
