I love the hire. He knows our veteran lineman and will surely fix up our issues there. He was also involved with the 2012 Gators D (which looked really really nice) and was an aggressive defensive coach.
He already knows how Pete likes to play ball. _________________

I'm not even sure that Ken Norton has been targeted by other teams, especially given that the Secondary is the first thing that is mentioned when a person speaks defense and Seahawks.
On the other hand, Dan Quinn has two years of experience as a DC at the University of Florida. That is invaluable. _________________

I don't know why it would upset him we have no idea if he wants to be a DC besides Quinn has more experience with his 1 year at Florida.
Would love for Norton to eventually be our DC if Quinn is successful and gets a HC job love Nortons fire on the sideline. _________________

Maybe he is the Mike Singletary type of coach. A great linebacker that knows his position, but strategy and organizing an entire defense may be too much for him. Another great LB, Ray Lewis, I could see being a good LB coach but not much more. I think overall thats typical of great players not necessarily being the best coaches. |

From the outside looking in, I would assume that he would be like Mike Sing as well. I still am an advocate for Norton becoming a coordinator one day, but Quinn has a better resume. [And ironically enough, almost became the DC instead of Gus Bradley when Jim Mora hired him]. _________________

| Perfect hiring in my opinion. We can keep some of the same elements of our defense because of the familiarity of Quinn with the team, but we can also improve upon our worst area (DL). Especially now with Pete saying he wants to upgrade pass rush big time, who better to coach up these young guys and to have them make an impact early than Quinn. |

| I'm already hearing him being interviewed on talk radio. Did all of this happen in a matter of hours?! |

Perfect. I look forward to getting big Red going again, and having his advise as to how we can get more pressure up front and stop the run better.
His D's in Florida were always stout, but very good at getting sacks and stopping the run. _________________

I imagine that Pete had Dan Quinn in mind in case that Gus was hired by another team. Pete and Quinn have a close relationship going back to the 90's when they coached together in San Fran. _________________

I think Bradley informed the team yesterday and it allowed PC to reach out and Quinn must've wanted the job badly if it was so quick. _________________
